My mum and myself went wedding dress shopping a few months back and I found the perfect wedding dress. My mum brought it for me and since getting it the dress is being stored at my mums house. One question remains though and I would like some advice on this, do I tell my husband to be that I have already got my wedding dress even though we don't get married until 2016?

I don't think it matters if he knows you've got it...as the tradition is just that he doesn't see it that's all. I got my dress about 18months before and he was just pleased I found something I loved as I thought it was going to be awful and I'd find nothing as I'm quite picky x

Would it matter to him that you've already got it? You'd need to get it at some point, there's no harm getting it a bit earlier than maybe he would have expected.. I would have told mine straight away that I had found my dress x

i thin it will be fine... a wedding dress is very important and probably should be purchased sooner rather than later...
So i dont think it matters too much... Just dont tell him where it is.. he may try and take a sneaky peak lool

I think it's more you than him... If there's a possibility in a year that you don't like it as much as you did when you first got it... A few on here have done that and gone and bought a new dress so I think it more lies with if you won't fall out of love with it x

Thank you for your advise lady's. I'm going to tell him tonight, but I'm going to follow NaomiC8's advise and not tell him where it's hidden. Don't want him having a sneaky peek, lol

My h2b knows I have found mine and intend to order it as soon as I find the right shoes, so I can account for heel height!

I bought my original dress a year before my OH proposed in 2013. I told him not long after what I had done since we were talking about getting married for quite a few years he was perfectly fine with it. That being said after seeing it for the first time since in June this year I realised I hated it and got myself into a right state since we hadn't budgeted for a dress. I've now got a dress on order that I am in love with and my orignal dress will be going for sale to help towards the new one.

I had my dress at home (in it's bag) 10 months before our wedding. He knew about it, and probably walked past the bag plenty of times. He just never saw my dress until I walked down the aisle.

I'm the same as clairenina. My dress was from an outlet so had it since 13 months before our date. Mine is in the spare room cupboard and he wouldnt want to look as he knows it would ruin the surprise on the day.
I really wouldn't question telling him, he knows you have to buy it at some point so why does it matter when or if you tell him? As Kel said, it's just tradition for him not to see it, not about knowing you have it. Plus, my OH was in the front room when I came in with my dress but told him to look away, even if he wasnt there my face would have given it away in seconds because I was so excited.

Telling him is fine just as long as he doesn't see it! My H2B knows I have pretty much found the one and I will tell him when I order it, just going to make sure he doesn't see it. I'm not getting married until 2016 either. x

My wedding dress is being stored in my sisters bedroom, was being stored in our sons but we had to get rid of their wardrobe so don't have room for it there now. My H2B has always known and jokes about having a sneak peek but never would really.

I don't think it matters, don't worry about him going to try and take a sneak peek though, men generally aren't into doing that kinda thing lol. I picked up my dress about 8 months before our wedding and just stored it at my parents house.

my OH was banned from the other bedroom for a few weeks as my dress was in there, now safely out of sight at my grannies. he wasnt tempted to peek at all x
