I recently got engaged to my partner of 6 years. Our wedding is not until may 2018 but was wondering when should I start looking for a wedding dress.
Our wedding is going to be in greece so not sure on what style of dress to go for too xx

Hi Nicole, it really does depend on what you want and whether you are happy to buy off the peg.
I've heard of some dresses taking 6 months to make, others 6 weeks, and of course if you buy off the peg you can get one straight away.

Personally I pretty much knew I was going to buy off the peg, started looking in Jan for July wedding, bearing in mind I can be fussy with clothes. But then I bought a dress the same day! Only needed a week for my alterations.

Hi Nicole, I'm also getting married in may 2018 and won't be getting my dress until at least a year before as I don't want to get it too soon incase I change my mind on the style or see something I like better! I would decide on what you what and look online to gather ideas, I've come across some lovely bridal boutiques that I will be paying a visit when the time is right as I want to buy mine of the peg, also you need to allow time for any alterations that may need to be done x

    Whenever you like hun.
I got mine a year before but if i wanted to i would have gone earlier. Im not a big shopper and the idea of continually trying on dress after dress makes me feel bored at the thought.
If you enjoy shopping you can go early and try stuff on and figure out what shape you want and go from there. :-)
    Xx

Thank you ladies. I've seen a few dresses online that I like but I don't want to start too early just in case I find the one. Xx

Definitely start trying on around 12-18 months before the big day as it may take a while to find the style that suits you and then to actually find the perfect one x

My dress is from a 2014 line and its still not in the sale yet so dont worry if you spy something you like you still may be able to get it further down the line.

I got my dress in March from a wedding show. Half price than it was in the shop. Bought it straight off the peg and just in process of having the alterations done. We get married in just over 4 weeks. I would advise to look in the shops and try them on as I looked online but when tried the same dresses on in the shop I didn't like it. X

i read this and thought it was me at first :') anywho are you planning on changing size from now until then? are you one to change your mind easily? if so i'd wait a little while longer, if you have seen the dress you know you will still love in two years time then go for it x

I have found a picture online of my dream dress just need to find somewhere that does it or something similar. I don't have any plans to change my size as I'm a size 8 and rather happy with that size. It's just I'm watching bridal programmes and get really excited about trying dresses on then think is it too early. Xx

I don't get married until next year, but brought my dress last year! I think its really up to you, and if you choice in style changes. If you have your heart set on a certain type of dress then go for it! I've had no regrets in buying a dress so early x

I don't think there's really a too early time. I would just keep into consideration weight loss/gain, different styles can come out at different times, you might find something better etc, if your not buying off the rack then some dresses can take 9 months to make, so I wouldn't leave it too late to start looking into it either
