I have decided that right here and now I am going to begin my diet ready for getting married next year. With just under 9 months to go there will be no more excuses...no more "I'll start tomorrow" it starts now. I thought what better way to get myself started than to post on here. That way if I slip up then I can tell you guys and you can all tell me off. I need to lose about a stone and a half, having hopefully lost a good amount of that by Christmas as I imagine this is when my first dress fitting will be. Then of course I need to keep it off. If anyone has any helpful hints, tips or ideas I'd much appreciate the assistance xx

Hi, well done :-) i have decided im starting my diet on monday when me & my partner go back to work, we have been off for 2 weeks so have been stuffing our faces while trying to get info for booking our wedding so i will be dieting at the same time as you, i firstly need to lose weight as im bridesmaid at my sisters wedding in april 2012 then my own wedding in may 2013! so if you fancy being diet buddy's u know where i am :-)
my first tip would be if you eat it cut out bread & swap it for ryvita or weight watchers bread, use none or extra light butter like flora extra light, use low fat cooking spray rather than oil, thats really the only thing i changed or cut out and drink 2 litres of ICE cold water! i done this diet last year and lost almost 3 stone i just 9 months! i was using the weight watchers diet but it was the old style with the old points as i dont have a clue how to work the new points systems they have brought out! i have the calculator & a book thats gives points on almost every food so if you need any help on points values for food or anything give me a shout! xx

Well done, this is the hardest bit, getting started. I too need to lose about 2 stone before next August, but if you search for the thread 'on a diet for your big day' or something similar, there is already a massive thread open with loads of advice and tips. I'll try to find and bump for you :)
    Good luck

Errrr well okay progress report....not good! I havent lost anything and havent really been trying...oooopss. Need a big kick up the backside please! My dress has arrived in the shop and I have had to pay for it but darent go and try it on. I still have 7 months obviously but really want to lose the weight before my fittings. When I ordered my dress in may I weighed 10 1/2 stone and I got on the scales today and I am 11 stone 12...eeeek. I thought by publishing my collosal weight gain I can embarrass myself into losing it. The reason I've put so much weight on is that earlier in the year I was so stressed with exam revision that I didnt eat an awful lot. Now all that stress is gone I've done too much celebrating (I love eating lol) and not enough exercising and I've got myself in a food rut. I work late and come home and cant be bothered to cook healthy meals so out comes the junk food. I'm not particuarly over weight for myself but as I ordered my dress when I was thinner it is a necessity to lose it again. People keep telling me I dont need to lose it but at the moment I'm a 12/14 and back in may I was more a 10/12 so no, in normal life I'm just a normal average lady but in wedding dress land I'm dangerously close to having to purchase a different one I would imagine. Any more good ideas on easy diets to follow for a busy veterinary nurse who is never at home?

Hey I am currently doing weight watchers and have been for 2 weeks tomorrow. I haven't joined I had found a website to work out how many points I needed (which was wrong btw I worked out 22 and have been using that but then found out that the minimum you should have is 29 .. oops) Anyway... I have lost half a stone in 2 weeks and want to lose another stone and a half minimum by next August. I basically have just been eating fruit all day and drinking lots of water - all 0 points then having a normal meal on the night time. You can eat what you want as long as its in the 29 points and you even get a weekly extra 49 points for if you go out. I will be your buddy too if you want xx

BTW I wouldn't worry too much about your dress fitting. My dress was ordered in the WRONG SIZE!!! They ordered a size too small and I stayed up 2 nights stressing about it but they can always alter its not a big deal. x

hot water and lemon first thing in the morning is supposed to boost your metabolism which is supposed to be really good. but you have to do it before you eat anything and I always forget! I've been doing zumba and swimming twice a week and so far have lost nothing! x

Thanks for all of your messages, its already made me feel very positive and geared up to start losing weight. Both offers of diet buddying are gratefully accepted, I'll look forward to hearing about how you are getting on Nicola and Natasha. I'm now going on a bit of an exercise mission (I do this a lot when I get into keeping fit) and I'm going to do half an hour off jumping around to an exercise DVD before bed, madness at this time of night I guess (12am) but I'm a night time not a morning person and I seem to be more motivated to exercise in the evenings. Anyway, heres to losing a few inches and pounds over the next few months xx

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I am following WW too and I think its amazing! doesn't even seem like a diet and I have lost a stone in just over a month. I struggled to get motivated too, why don't you make a little competition to help you stick to it and keep you motivated. Me, my mam and sister get weighed every week we put a few pound in the tin and if we hit our target by a certain time we get our money back to go on something nice if not it stays in the tin till the next time.
