My beautiful wedding abroad in Cyprus has unfortunately been cancelled due to coronavirus and I am devastated.

Thankfully we will be getting all of our money back but that's not the point.

We want to rebook for a later date but we can't imagine a time when all of this will be over and don't want to have to go through all of this over again.

Has anyone booked a wedding abroad within the next year?

    Hi Shikiera,

Sorry to hear that your wedding was cancelled. I can only imagine how that feels!
I have wedding booked for 4th July 2020 in Grecee. Nothing has been cancelled yet but being realistic international travel will be the last thing that will get back to normal, which may be months away at this point. Really disappointed as EVERYTHING has already been sorted, including our guest’s flights and accommodation (over 80 people!). I'm currently working on plan B - alternative date in 2021. As close to original date as possible, as most of airlines will allow you to rebook the flight or issue a voucher to be used within 12 months.

Thanks for the reply, our wedding was supposed to be happening today, we did have the option of amending but we just couldn't see a time when it would be 'safe' to do so, when we first heard we couldn't have our date I was optimistic enough to think we could move it to September but as the days went by that looked less and less likely until we just took the refund.

Considering ours was cancelled only 2 weeks before, to say we are fully prepared for everything is an understatement, we had half packed suitcases!

We are also really worried all of our guests would go through the trouble to rebook and it happen all over again to them and who's going to turn up to a third wedding LOL

But yes, very heartbreaking, thanks for sharing your story.

It's easy to think why is this happening to me and forget it's happening to everyone.

Truly heart-breaking. What is your plan now, are you looking to secure date next year? I agree with you, this year may still be risky, as we were also thinking about maybe postponing till September, as weather in Greece will still be brilliant but I think 2021 is safer option (fingers crossed).

Hope you enjoyed glass of champagne with your fiancé to mark the day when you did not get married!

I wish you all the best, things will get better one day!

Yeah we are looking at booking for next year at the moment but it's hard to when no shops are open for us to go in and talk to someone face to face.

    Hello Shikiera,

It's really a sad situation, I can understand how you feel... After planning all these stuff your beautiful wedding is getting cancelled, it's such a hard situation. And the hardest part is that you have to plan everything over again. Our wedding has been cancelled due to the coronavirus situation as well. We were looking to make it in my uncle's property in Greece, it has such a beautiful garden with a great view. But seems like we have to wait until this situation ends.

Hey Ella, I'm really sorry to hear your wedding was also cancelled, it's just the worst feeling in the world isn't it?
All the stress and tears that went into making it perfect, the excited counting down of the days, all gone. We even had little trinkets for the wedding party with the date engraved on them as a thank you, no idea what to do with them now.

Have you got a rough date in mind of when you think you'll be able to plan for?

We were thinking next May in Cyprus but obviously don't want to put money down yet until we see how it plays out a little more.
