A girl at work told me today that waxing stretches the skin?! I only have my eyebrows waxed at the moment but don't want saggy skin around my eyes on my big day-lol!
What are you ladies doing about hair removal for the big day? I was thinking waxing full legs, bikini and eyebrows. When would be best to do it?
Thanks.xx

I'll just be shaving - waxing is pointless for me as my hair is so fine and blonde (I only shave for the sake of it really!). For some reason, the wax can't seem to get a good grip as my hair is so fine lol! And takes ages to grow!

I dont do my eyebrows.
I epilate my legs, i dont wax, actually i cant wax or use hair removal cream as my skin is sensitive to most of it!

ill be gettin waxed 2 days before the wedding ill be havin my eye brows, legs, bikini line, and under my arms doin, i hate shaving i allways get rashes and spots and ingrowing hairs and i swear not to shave again so waxing all the way for me.last longer, its smoother,it doesnt stretch you skin (or its not stretched mine when ive had it done and ive been doin it years) so i wont need to have it done again for about 6/8 weeks x

I have to wax my legs, as if I shave, the regrowth itches so much I scratch my legs in my sleep and wake up with scabs :-(
I'm naturally blonde, so generally don't have to worry too much. I shave my underarms (mostly because I go to the gym so often I can't imagine leaving them long enough for the hair to grow enough to be waxed!), and am trying to pluck (haha) up the courage to try having my bikini line waxed!

Having bikini line waxed, I epilate legs and underarms and have threading on my eyebrows. The problem is that hair grows in 3 cycles so it depends what phase of growth you pluck/shave/wax etc. For those with sensitive skin try a salon that uses hard wax not strip wax as that is better. I have my bikini line done with hard wax and its less painful and seems to last longer than strip waxing but according to my therapist the important thing is to get into a hair removal routine to remove hair at the optimum growth phase and to ensure you use a scrub before waxing/shaving to minimise in growing hairs.

I epilate. I get ingrown hairs if I wax my bikini line, which are nasty and just defeat the object, plus I hate having to wait for all the regrowth (you can epilate hairs that are just 2mm long), and I find it doesn't last very long (a bikini wax only lasts me about 10 days tops, epilating lasts me 3-4 weeks, plus I can epilate again pretty much straight after it starts growing back unlike with waxing). Epilating is more painful IMO, and it's also VERY time consuming IME, but, I prefer it.
I might however get a leg wax for the wedding as it saves the hassle of me doing it myself; I'll epilate my bikini line though a couple of days before.

epilating is painful yes but it is the longest lasting hair removal i have experienced! I do think the more you epilate the less you feel the pain. If you can afford lazor hair removal go for it lol!
i might start saving for this after the wedding as i hate thinking about waxing/shaving/epilating!
If i could get away with it i wouldnt do it!!!

Hi
I always shave, but to stay totally smooth would need to do it every day! :( I've tried waxing in the past and although it leaves me lovely and smooth I hate having to let the hair grow first and it doesn't last 6 weeks like people say it should :(
I bought a course of IPL off one of the deal websites after the 1st session I was really impressed as 50% of the bikini line had fallen out and 15% of underarm but after 3 sessions (I have 3 more to go) most of it seems to have grown back (IPL is supposed to be almost permanent?!) but it is a bit finer than before.
I can't afford to do my legs and keep doing bikini and underarms to so was thinking about buying one of the IPL machines for home (Phillips and Boots both do one). Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it? They aren't cheap so don't want to go wasting my money without some honest feedback whihch I know all the ladies on here will give!
Maybe I'm just a hairy freak and I'll have to start shaving everyday but does anyone have any other advice ideas?!

Thanks for the feedback girls! I might get one of the epilators and give it a go. Like Charlottelee i'm blind as a bat without my specs so plucking my eyebrows just goes wrong! I shave under my arms and my legs though and have a bikini line razor which is pretty good.
Does anyone else wish that it was more acceptable to just be hairy?! Lol!xx

I've been told by the MIL2B that I'll be waxing! Really?! Good of her to tell me how to remove unwanted hair, since, due to her own hormone changes, she's been hair-free on her legs since she was about 21! May have to concede she has a point - and I will be going to a professional, coz all my previous home attempts have resulted in warm, sticky just-as-hairy-as-when-I-started legs!
On 21st April 2012 I will marry my best friend!

I use the wax strips on my legs (never tried my bikini line, far too chicken) and doesn't even hurt as long as you follow the instructions and advice of other people that do it, eg Don't ever wax just after a bath/shower and Don't use soap on the area if bath/showering after!

tried waxing my legs it take ages to get a sort of nice result and what to u have from it red irritated skin... not a good idea...
shaving is a good alternative but grows back so fast :S so regarding my legs probably will be taking my epilator (ouch) but the effect is good :) if your skin is soft and bathed etc this a good idea to do so ... eye brows is plucking and underarms and bikini shaving...
not tried IPL at all... how much is that zoe??

Hi Enny
I got a deal on kgb deals and it was £89 for 6 sessions for bikini line and underarms. I'm still hopefully it'll work, especially on my underarms they get really sore being shaved all the time!

I epilated for the first time the other day!!! I used it wet in the shower, gripped the rail and waited for the pain......and tbh it's not as bad as I thought!!! In fact I'll be using it again before the honeymoon (only did the legs though - tried under the arms but that DID hurt, and thought better of my bikini line lol).

I was like that kimmy. I bought the epilator, then tried it on my leg, dry - and it hurt like hell.!!! lol Using it in the shower was better though - and my legs are definitely a lot smoother than shaving (and is supposed to last up to 4 weeks which is great for me being lazy lol).

Wax definately! I haven't shaved for about 12 years now and the hair takes quite a while to grow back and is definately thinner. I get a full leg, under arm, and bikini wax every 6 weeks for £50, and I get my eyebrows threaded when they need doing. To be honest I should just put the money towards laser removal I guess when you add it all up, but I know someone who had it done and was disappointed with the results. I'd love for it to never grow back though! x
