I have a few viewings next Wednesday, and I'm slightly nervous, although excited. What kind of things should I be looking for? Going with my mum and MOH

Well I'd start with the style of the place. When we were looking, we knew we were after somewhere modern. so didn't want big chandeliers around the place.

Also look at size.. is the room too big/small for how many guests you have.. can they adapt the room. A few places we went to could put up a partition so that a room for 200 could be a room for 50 and everything in between.

Price. Although we did this before making appts.

Staff.. How is the wedding co-ordinator. Do you want to work with them to plan your wedding. Bear in mind this can change..

Thanks, I'll find out about all of that. I'm usually rubbish at organisation, so feeling pretty out of my depth, and only one of my bridesmaids is actually even mentioning my wedding ever, but thankfully she's the crazily organised one

Questions I would always advise asking when looking at a venue and what to consider:

Make sure the venue suits you and your partner. My OH and I visited venues alone first because we wanted it to be our preference first. When we decided on a venue we then took other people with us to see it.

Think about numbers. Is the venue able to hold the guest numbers you're thinking of. Does the venue have a minimum number of guests requirements (some do have this)

When are you allowed access to set up the venue? What if there is a wedding the day before?

Price. Whats included? Do they provide the staff to serve drinks/food?

Do they offer catering or do they have a list of recommended suppliers?

Do they have an on site coordinator?

Do they include complimentary bridal suite or is this offered separately? Can you reserve rooms for guests?

I think there is a whole topic on questions to ask venues, but don't let it stress you! Enjoy looking at different venues and how you day could work there, then get into the details :)

Wow, there is so much! Nowhere I'm looking at does viewings on weekends so my OH won't actually be going. He doesn't really seem to mind where we get married anyway, as long as we do.

I'd check if yours is going to be the only wedding as well, we narrowed it down to two venues, one was so pretty but there was a possibility that there would be another weddings on the day of ours which was a big no no for us. We managed to find a brilliant venue with exclusive use and we'll be the only wedding there.

Also check how much they'll do for you, what they offer, some want you to dress the venue the morning of the wedding while others will dress it for you. Good luck! Xx
