Had a really lovely venue sorted for the reception, but it's all gone pete tong :(
Trying to find another place but can't find anything that suits.. I'm looking for a venue for an evening do only in Nottingham/Newark possibly Lincoln area.
We want a fete feel to it, so a barn would be good, I'd love a marquee but the ones you rent are so expensive (we do have land if anyone knows anyone rentable marquees with the dance floor etc at a reasonable price as £2,500 has been the cheapest quote)
We're not fussy people, we have been looking at village halls - really want a newer style if possible though as I really don't fancy the working mans pub feel - although I do think some can be dressed really well.
So if anyone knows ANYWHERE in NOTTS/LINCS/DERBS area that is not a stooooooooooooooooooooopid amount as we are on a fairly tight budget please help as everything else is sorted now and so I'm stressing that if we can't find a suitable night venue soon we may have to change all our plans :( :( :(

Don't have any suggestions I'm afraid as am not from the area, just wanted to say sorry to hear that and I hope it doesn't cause you too much stress... as SamanthaP91 has said everything happens for a reason... I'm sure you'll find somewhere else that is even more perfect! Good luck with it all :)

It's a complicated reason, I said we shouldn't have even thought about this venue to OH but he said nothing would go wrong. It was a venue that is run by a good friend of ours' new girlfriend.... Basically this friendship has turned sour and so I cannot use there as a venue as I just don't trust that something wont happen - double booking/price going up/something not available on the night...
I think it's less stressful (although still highly stressful) to find a new venue than worry about what could happen right up to the day and on the day

I don't think so as we have lots of people in the Notts area so we want to be kind to the guests needs.
I didn't think that would be a problem though, but my OH wants it local

Everything is PERFECT! And somewhere I would never have thought of thanks to looking for 'party venues' rather than wedding venues!
Rowing Club Nottm - Sounds like a working mens club.... but it is AMAZING! Has fibre glass caves, a seperate room for us to set up for a kids room, a funky bar - with ale of our choise if we want, welcome drinks that we can buy with a cheap corkage fee, views over the river and low catering costs (£4pp for buffet) or option to do it ourselves.
Everything does happen for a reason and I am one very happy bride :-D xx

I think we will do the catering ourselves anyway now - we are going to do platters for each table rather than buffet... I just find the whole buffet thing very unhygienic....
I am so excited! And a good friend of mine got engaged over the weekend so wedding planning buddies now and I'm sure she will be on here soon :)
