    Hello all,

We are looking to get married 8th October 2016 and we are really struggling to find somewhere within budget. We live in birmingham so are looking Birmingham, Solihull, Redditch this sort of area. The problem is we have a budget of £2000 for venue food, cermony full package etc. Everywhere we have looked comes no where close. I really dont want a registry office and then social evening do. I'm not saying this is a bad idea i just really want my wedding all in the same location. any suggestions?

    Thank you.

See if their is a hotel our full package was £2750 at a hotel for a Saturday and that includes dj and 2 nights accommodation as well so you may be able to negotiate

I was going to say how many guests. I have seen a few places in brum where they do a package for £2-3000
The Regency in Shirley. It's our favourite at the moment :)

Thanks for coming back to me. We are looking to have 50 day and 90/100 evening guests

I loved the regency in Solihull and it was in budget...Down side my h2b cousin has booked it for May2016 she got in engaged 3 weeks after us. As much as I loved the venue I don't want to seem as if we copied her.

I will take a look at Edgbaston Palace hotel.

All the hotel's I have looked at and spoke to are quoting around 3500 but I just don't want to spend that much.

Have you tried any hol inns? They can be quite nice and are a good price, some are very corporate tho but you may be able to find one that isn't, mine is a hi hotel but was originally a Marriott so is almost Victorian

Have you had a look on gr0up0n? They had a few wedding packages on there. One in Norwich (too far for you, I know) but that was under £1,500 for 50 days guests and maybe 75 evening, something like that, so maybe they'll have something in your area? Worth a punt? x

Thanks for the suggestions :) I have had a look at groupon and will show the h2b later.

The holiday inn by us under refurb till the end of the month so we are going to pop and have a look but I def think it's more corporate.

Our budget for the venue if around £2000. There will be 50 day guests and 90/100 evening guests. I want it all in the same location purly for the fact my dad and my great gran can't get around much so it will make it easier for them. We want a civil cermony followed by a wedding breakfast of afternoon tea and then evening buffet. Area Birmingham, Redditch, Solihull, Henley in arden around this area we live in South birmingham and our familys are split between Redditch and Birmingham. Don't want people to travel more than about 30mins to get there.

Many thanks for everyones input. I never realised how stressful this would be and how many people you would have to cater for. My family are already arguing over who should be invited to the day.. If it wasnt for my nan I would be pushing for a wedding abroad just the two of us.

I'm nowhere near you so I'm sorry I can't help, but hope you find something.

Afternoon tea could cut costs instead of a full wedding breakfast, so even with slightly more expensive venues - can you mention it and see if they can alter their package and it could be reasonable by swapping a WB for the afternoon tea?

Have you tried wedding fairs in the areas you're looking at as they can offer reduced rates when you meet with them.

Also, have you considered a Sunday so the 9th instead? Ours is about £1,000 - £1,500 cheaper (waiting venue to confirm) because it's on a Sunday.

Midweek is super cheap. Venue near us is charging £7 - £8k on a Saturday/Sunday and then £2.5k for the same thing from Monday - Thursday!! Madness.

We have considered this option but I don't want to have to ask people to take time of work if we did it midweek. Plus they wouldn't be able to take the kids out of school for the day. I have 4 cousins under 16 and my H2b has a nephew we really want at the day.

Sunday would be an option but would people stay for the evening do since they have to be up for work monday morning?

We have been to wedding fayres and spoke to some of the local hotels but cheapest one is £3500 and that was with afternoon tea instead of the 3 course meal.

Mention wedding and the price triples :(

The dates not booked or confirmed. We just picked it because October is slightly out of season and the weather is generally quite nice and we were hoping it would be less expensive.

We really don't want to have to ask people to take time off work.

If people want to spend the evening with you and wake up with a hangover, they'll take the time off. Sunday is too much cheaper (for us) to do it on a Saturday really. People know the date 18 months in advance, so they can take the Monday off if they want, you're not telling them they have to. Ask some of the most important people to you whether it would bother them and see what they say? With a midweek wedding I think if they're not prepared to take a day off for your wedding though, are they really that important to you, and are you really that important to them?

We were looking at a Sunday in April/October as its out of season both moms work in school so needed it in school holidays, at first I thought the same as you about people booking days off but if it doesn't effect the kids being at school then I'd put the feelers out like someone mentioned if people want to be there and with enough notice people can book it off work, it's a really special day for you, h2b and family and if it saves you £s then why not lol xx

    Ok, about venues and budgets!
We have set the date for February 2017. It's winter, so it was supposed to be cheaper, right?
However, on our venue brochure the price is the same, without any distinction between seasons.
I'm going to visit them the next couple of weeks. Do you think I should try and get some discount on them? It's a really low season..

If they don't offer a different price Camilla, you could talk to them but I've found depending on how "in demand" the place is, they're not willing to give anything. We went to one place where before we'd barely sat down they were offering us a further £500 off a package that was already £1,000 cheaper so they really wanted/needed the business, whereas the venue we've picked was almost booked solid and we struggled to get a date we wanted so they wouldn't take anything off.
Though you could consider maybe changing your date to peak season for nice weather (if that bothers you) given that they would charge exactly the same price? x

I understand what you're saying. I don't think it's the case cause I've messaged them to book an appointment to go there with h2b and they replied saying that I could go whenever I like. This made me think that they are not busy these days, right?
I've messaged another place and they gave me a few days available for me to go there to have a chat... And this gave me the impression that they can be quite busy,
Don't know if it makes sense...

I understand what you mean :) There's no harm in asking either way because the worst they can say is "No". We asked everywhere, only 1 said yes, but i got the sense that they weren't getting as many bookings as they would like. Even with a discount though they were the most expensive!
Give it a go, I hope it goes well :)

Thanks everyone for your advisce. I will talk to my h2b and see what he thinks about about a sunday wedding.

The hotel I love southcrest manor in Redditch has offer us a package for £2016 for monday to thursday only. I really don't want a week day wedding. I no its insane but I just feel rude asking them to take time off work. Especially when they have children and use there holiday time in the summer to cut down on the child care costs. I did think about having a Friday wedding but there just as expensive as Saturday.

Camilla I would definatly ask if they will give any discount. The worse that can happen is they say no and they may offer alternatives or add in some extras.
