Hi all, me and my Hubbie to be have a budget of 10k for our wedding however this does not include the dress or the honeymoon (someone has kindly offered this as a gift!) we have found a venue which all in would cost us £4k but we can't work out whether the remaining 6k will be enough for everything else? We understand that all the little things add up, does anyone else have the same kind of budget and what has your venue cost you? Thanks for your help

We have a rough budget of £12k for everything, excluding the honeymoon. We have already paid a £1k deposit to our venue but my parents have been amazing and have offered to pick the rest of the venue bill up between them, which will be around £6k. So this leaves us with £6k to pay ourselves (roughly) which is the same as you after your venue... bearing in mind that's not including the photographer (dad paying) or my dress (mum paying). We're paying for little bits and bobs as we go along from our personal accounts and will just use the wedding savings for the 'big' things i.e. paying off suppliers (DJ, harpist, magician, cake lady, registrar etc.) By my calculations it is very do-able and we should even have money left over. So I'd say it would be doable for you xx

Our venue cost about that with ceremony, it is doable on what you have left, you may have to scrimp on some things, maybe do diy, but our whole wedding never came to £10k, more like about £7k

Hi Danielle welcome to UK bride

A 10K budget is defo more than enough if you research enough options as many things vary greatly in price, ordering things from china like decorations etc is a big money saver, you could do DIY invites etc and DIY favours, I am buying my tiara and jewellery from de3enh@m5 much cheaper than the bridal boutique my dress is from. I am ordering my veil from a shop in England and there soooooo much cheaper than the bridal boutique lots of helpful posts on here and just ask for advice everyone here is very helpful and we all have different places we have found to buy things xx

Danielle, I'd start with thinking about how much you can realistically save per month until the wedding, and then go from there. You will get a rough of the things you can or cannot afford, or maybe the things you'd like to have a go at doing yourself such as flowers, invitations and other stationary, favours etc.

I'm getting married in a country house hotel in Wiltshire - we have exclusive use and the whole day there. Where is the venue you're thinking about? xx

I got married in a house which was part of Queen Victoria's Osborne estate. We had the ceremony there and also the reception as this then cut costs with travelling to another venue.

£6k should be plenty for the rest, what does the £4k venue package cover?

If its just the venue fee and you then have to use their caterers it might add up to quite a bit. It also depends how many guests you anticipate. A 4k venue that then charges £60 a head for food and you want 120 guests is going to get costly.
Don't forget if you get married at a venue to allow a fair few hundred for the registrar fee- generally I think it's about £300-£400.
There are always ways to save cash though and you can look for deals, for instance a non Saturday wedding at your venue of choice or maybe slightly out of season might work in your favour.
    Hope this helps x

Im sure that with a bit of imagination 6K is gonna be more than enough! Hell we are doing our entire day on under 3K. There are always ways to save money...use the internet, don't buy from "bridal" shops as the charge the earth and with a bit of DIY you can have a very personal and wonderful day x
