I'm stuck on whether to get a veil or not. I tried a couple on when I was trying dresses on but wasn't too sure. My mam is adamant I need to have a veil but a friend saids he doesn't think I should. I'm having a strapless ball gown dress and not sure if a lack of veil would leave my back too bare but afraid a veil will hide a nice hair style. What are others having and why?

I had never decided on it before I went shopping so wasn't all that fussed. However when I tried a few dress on (and got mine) the assistant put a veil on me and I felt like it completed my look!
You don't have to have one if you don't want one. I assume you've already got your dress with 4 months left? go veil shopping with your dress. Try a few different ones and if you don't feel anything towards one then go without. Having a veil doesmt make you a bride, your dress does :)
There are lots of alternatives these days. Have a look at headpieces instead if you decide against x

I always daid no way to a veil tried one on and said i again. Nxt time i went she pulled a different one and i said yes to it lol
If u r unsure u need to put your dress on and try them all Also if your hair will be up on the day clip it up so u get a rough idea of what itll look like
Ill not be leaving my veil on allnight itll come off agtwt the formalities at reception x

I originally didn't want one, until I found my dress, and as April said it just completes the look and makes it extra bridal :)

Thanks :) Yes I have my dress and completely and utterly in love with it. Only had it on once, so afraid of getting it out and it not fitting! Getting it measured and adjusted accordingly in January and hoping it doesn't need anything doing to it (or if anything taken in) Think I'll have to brave it, do many shops let you go in and put your dress on and try some of their veils? I know that trying the veil on without the dress wouldn't give any idea of how it'd really look. I like how traditional they are but never really thought too much into it, but kinda need to start now
I don't see why a shop wouldn't let you try your dress on with the veils.. you need to know how they are going to look together. I don't think you will really know if you want one or not until you see them both together. I'm still undecided as I know I'm likely to change my mind once I choose a dress anyway! As said above though, not having a veil doesn't mean you are any less of a bride!! xx

I bought my dress from an outlet and took it home on the day so had to find a local shop to do my alterations. I've been in two or three times in my dress already and they've been fine! I did eventually get my tiara from them though as I felt bad for wanting to go all the time lol. I enjoyed trying everything on. I actually chose the veil I wanted then buggt it online and designed it myself!

I know I found that a veil really finished off the look. I'm not sure that I would have felt like a bride without one. It can be incorporated into your hair style if you discuss it with whoever does your hair.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Like all other ladies I found it totally transforms you from lady in pretty white dress to bride. I found it really finishes it off! Although she had put a lace edged one in me first as my dress has lace but I felt it a bit much but when I tried a drop crystal one on it was totally different! Also depends what you're doing with your hair and what headpiece you're having as to what fits with your look best

Have one if you feel comfortable with one and you like the look on you.
I had one but I loved it, my sister didn't because when she tried one on when trying on dresses both of us creased up with laughter and we both agreed she looked ridiculous and it basically just didn't suit her. Everyone is different.

Think I agree with what you're all saying, it will most likely just complete the look. I'm going to go shopping for one when I get a weekend off :)

Enjoy shopping! I didn't want one to go over my face and so just have a single tier but it's to the floor. Love I! X

Im having one just a long single tier one. I love mine although I'm planning on taking it off when I got to sit down for dinner, the back of my dress is stunning and I don't really want to have it covered up plys the long veil might be hard to sit down with! X

I love veils. There are so many types and lengths, and you can wear them so many ways. I prefer them.

I wasn't going to have a veil either as I am having a floral crown, then I thought why the hell not, this will be the only chance I will have to wear one and they really do compliment pretty much every wedding dress. And I have managed to find one that works well with a floral crown!

Think it depends on the person as I have always wanted a veil and my MOH who will be getting married a few months after me doesn't want one but wants a hair piece thing instead (can't remember what they are called lol) which will suit her perfectly :) Wear whatever you feel completes your look :)
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .

I originally didn't want one but I sort of ended up with one :o) I think it finishes my dress off nicely. My Sister didn't have one but her dress was a very different style to mine and it would've looked silly if she had worn one
