I had an idea in bed this morning (Bed is great for inspiration) to get the girls attending the wedding them sticks with ribbons on to twirl around with on the lawn. I thought it would make for some really good photos but I can't remember what they are called to have a google at them to see if I can buy them and how much they would be. I know it the worst came to it I could probably make them with a stick and some ribbon but I'm not sure they would twirl like the proper ones. If anyone knows what they are called and where I can get them from then I would appreciate it.

Oooo I will have a look. Thanks for that. I want them to be colourful as it will look great if the images are turned to black and white whilst leaving the colour of the ribbon in the shot.

Jo, Ribbon twirling is pretty simple to learn. I was a gymnast and floor ribbons was always part of my floor routine. I absolutely love them! I haven't the slightest idea where u can buy them from, but from what i remember they are sticks of wood with a nice thick piece of long colourful ribbon glued on. You might even be able to make your own. x x

Ooooo I bet it must have been amazing to be able to do gymnastics. I've seen a few about but they are more than I wanted to pay to hand them out to all of the children so I've opted for getting just a couple and then they can take it in turns to play. I had thought about making my own but I can't find the ribbon that I would need for them cheap enough to make it worth while.

I'm thinking of having these instead of confetti, found a really good guide on how to make them for cheap. I'll pop the link on your wall if you want?

It's on your wall :) Erm, hobbycraft do some and their range has lots of colours so easier to colourmatch but cheapest I've found is confetti, theirs has the most for the money.

I was thinking of doing a few varying sizes of ribbon as well, to make it more textured, and confetti have the better sizes. And I love the bell idea.

Also thinking about having our names and date burnt onto the wood with one of those soldering iron type things, not sure whether to buy myself a cheap one or pay to have it done properly yet though... if we do that, we figured they would make nice keepsakes for the kids or adults who like them.

Thanks for that I will have a look. I thought that confetti had been closed down. Have they been brought out now?

I have a soldering iron but to be honest if you can find someone to do it I think it would be better as its not that easy to write neatly with a soldering iron onto round wood. If you do want to give it a go though I would get one from a DIY store, use it and then take it back saying its faulty lol. Why pay out for something you won't use again?
