Hi Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as even though my wedding is a bit away I dont know what to do about the top table. Both my parents have passed so I will have my brother standing in my dads role and on my hubbys side of the family his parents are divorced and mum has remarried, but they arent that close, but hes very close to his gran. Its a bit of a confusing one as I dont know who to sit where and will it put out anyone on his side if they are not sitting with us,and also that fact that I wont have my mum and dad on my side what to do???Sorry am at a loss about it.

The modern top table can have whoever you want on it... some people have just the couple, others the couple and kids, some just biological parents, others parents and grandparents, others just wedding party and no parents... do what suits you.

We're not really having formal seating arrangements, but our version of the top table will be just the two of us. Gives us some time alone on the day as well as saving all the arguments!

.."She'll promise you more than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while your bleeding
But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cos she's always a woman to me.."

The only time we actually spent at the top table was when we were actually eating each course and the speeches- we wanted to make sure we both tallked to each guest individually, esp family members the other hadn't met before. We each went the opposite way round the room.

we were having a sweetheart table as all families are separated so was easier but now we r having just the bridal party as in me, hubby, 2 bridesmaids, best man and my bro as he will be giving me away that way we dont upset moms&dads they have their own family tables-no arguments that way hehe :-)

Our top table will be removed after the speeches to make room for the disco so we're not putting my nan on it now. Only able, chatty ppl. Their chairs will be added onto other tables for them to sit down

we're having bm's and best man with their partners on our top table, as both sets of parents are separated/divorced! so we're gonna sit them all on separate tables with their new partners and put family members/friends of ours that they know with them x

Ive been thinking about this alot cause my parents are divorced and both have new partners. There might be too many people on mine. My friend was having trouble about which family to have on her top table so she decided just to have a top table for 2 for her and her bloke. Makes life so much easier :)
