What are peoples thoughts on wearing a hoop under your dress? I know that some styles of dress need one simply to give them the right look but I'm not sure if I should bother or not. I asked the Bridal store if they advised a hoop for my dress and they said it was up to me but they didn't feel the dress particularly needed one. I'm wondering if I'm going to spend the day shuffling around and kicking my dress out from under my feet and also whether hoop will honestly make much difference? My dress is an A line with a full skirt.

My MoH is horrified by the idea of a hoop, she had one for her prom and it was the most uncomfortable thing she's ever worn. It's possible this was due to the fit, but she had a really expensive dress so it wasn't just that it had been done on the cheap etc. If possible, try walking around in one for a bit and see how it feels? Otherwise I'd advise a long petticoat if you want an extra bit of flare- I had one under my ballgown and it made a huge difference, and that was just a £30 one.

You should try the dress with a hoop and then without it and make the decision from there xx

I'm having a hoop. My dress just doesn't sit right without one. Perhaps try it with and without and see what you prefer xx

I agree with Shellbell and Emmi, try your dress with and without and decide from there. I got one for mine as it was feeling difficult to walk in, the inside skirts kept feeling like they were wrapping around my legs lol xx

I'm not having one and its not something I've even thought of. I don't think my style of dree needs it and it's not been mentioned when Ive been for fittings. xx

The dress ive picked doesnt really need a hoop... The dress shop didnt even mention it but i tried to walk in it and couldnt! I asked if i could try a hoop with it and it looked so much better plus i was able to walk!
Id deffo try it with and without to see whats best for you x

I had a hoop with mine and it kept the shape right and kept the skirt off my legs so I wasn't having to kick the dress away from my feet all day - was ideal and I don't think I could have got away with not wearing one. Depends on the style of your dress though.

I have got a petticoat for mine to give it a lift. Looks perfect. I never wanted a hoop as I hate it when it slips and you see the shape of it. The other upside is that if the petticoat is lifeted to be alittle higher than the dress it will give ou a little gap for your toes when walking and it saved meon extra alterations as i no longer needed the hem lifted :)
