It's a good game though!
The actual ceremony is meaningful, we are publicly devoting ourselves to each other in front of all of the people who matter to us. The reception is important as its a chance for our family and friends to meet and get to know one another, while celebrating something positive.
Recently the only family gatherings have been sad occasions like funerals. I'm hoping our wedding day will be a chance for us to have day to remember where we made our lifelong commitment and had fun doing it.
Marriage itself then follows, hopefully with the positive memories and support of loved ones. We've been together for nearly 10 years, so nothing really in the day to day will change...the love, the commitment is already there. But somehow it will hold more meaning. I'm proud to be taking his name, I'm honoured that he wants to give his name to me. It becomes a connection that can't be questioned.

Marriage to me is the ultimate commitment you can make to one another (To my OH its just a piece of paper)
The biggest thing for me is that we will all have the same surname hate not having the same surname as DS (I know I could have changed it be deed poll but didnt think about it) There is also the financial stability that marriage brings should anything happen to OH I dont need to worry about how we (Ds and i) would cope financially as I worry that MIL would try to fleece us of everything.
I am marrying my partner because I love him and know we are going to be together forever and nothing will come between that.

flossie, your meaning to me is the same. Mainly the Family part touches home with me the most. It certainly is the highs and lows but I we had highs and a massive low very early on in our relationship and the way my OH handled it made me realise then and there that he would be my future husband and that I was willing to make a commitment to life for him. Marriage to me Osborn just about the big day being perfect it's spending the refs if my life with someone I love and I can't live without. Marriage is finding my one person to settle down with make a life of our own and start our own family. My hubby is my first my last my everything have only been with one man and I intend for it to be that way till I die. One Man One One Marriage One Family. I want to grow old with my hubby we have been together since youngish age I was 17 he 19 and been together ever since this is the only life I know and to choose to have. Marriage is one of the ultimate commitments for a couple to share when you join together family's and two souls together as one and will be know as two hearts one soul. Some see it as a piece of paper its only a piece of paper in the eyes of the law and has so much more meaning to the couple that certificate goes too. Marriage shouldn't be taken lightly as it is one of the biggest chapters of your life as bringing a child into the world is.

My h2b and me have survived the highs and lows already in our time together, we've both had our chance to walk away and never look back but we have both fought for each other because we know we are meant to be. So for me our marriage isn't so much about forever, because we have that regardless of a marriage, for us a marriage is about family. it is about me having the same name as my h2b and our beautiful little girl, it is about solidarity and security and it is about us showing the world that, together, we are able to overcome anything thrown at us!
Oh and I love any excuse to throw one hell of a party ;) lol

my fiance says it took him 5 years to get me back hes never letting me go again (we went out for a yesr when we i was 14 he was 17)
For us NOW its completing our family with the kids we feel its the right time to make sure we are all one and not 3 of them and 1 of me lol
But i dont want him to let me go again :-) weve been thru so much and weve always come thru it.
He was always my weak spot! I avoided him for so long cos o knew id fall for him all over again in a second lol and when i eventualy let my guard down there he was and i fell instantly. Shud never of split up in the first place all them yrs ago!
Its definatly me and him forever :-)
And the kids! :-D
We dnt wsnt a big fancy do we just want to be married. We r having a budget wedding nothing big and flash but a nice celebration.. We get married in my family church where mam n dad were christened(on the same day at same time) then married. My bro and me were christened there. Both my kids also. (Also the unfortunate times that take u to that church but also means them people will be round us and in our hearts!)
And im trying to make it about the kids as much as it is us :-) x

For me i see the wedding day as a celebration of love with people we love and the beginning of everything. I always thought I knew what love was then I met h2b and it was more amazing than I ever imagined :) marriage to us is us becoming one family and from that family growing when we have kids . It's about growing old with my best friend and knowing no matter what life has thrown at us, we can survive by growing together and loving each other always :)
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .

For us its the start of a new life together even though we have been together for 24 years already, we will be moving abroad and not having to spend time apart from each other anymore

It's the start of our forever. We already have our home and our 3 beautiful children, but this will be our final piece of our puzzle to say how much we mean to each other and seal our lifelong commitment. It will also mean that I will finally have the same name as my partner and babies :D

I think the meaning of marriage is to promise to one special person that you agree and believe that you will be stronger and happier facing the trials of life together, more so than you ever really could be alone.
My H2B is my best friend and we laugh a lot and share interests and have the same sort of ideals about things, which is really great and a massive part of our good relationship, but marriage is a step up almost. I'm promising to watch his back in the years to come, trusting that he'll watch mine in return :)
