We have got 6 suits to get for the wedding. Looking at the hire prices some places are nearly £120 just to hire the suits. Wondering if it would be better to buy them?

Thoughts please or any links to cheaper (but good) places to hire suits would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I found a place called hirewear direct, they seem to have quite reasonable prices though i havent looked into it too much yet.
Another thing we were thinking about was buying a black suit, most of oh's ushers already own smart black suits....and then we were going to hire the waistcoats and cravats. That was just going to cost £21 per person and we wont be stuck with any great costs if someone rips their trousers or anything. Plus no one would mind buying their own black suit because they would be able to wear it again.

We are hiring suits, but then we only have 3 to get (groom, BM and FOB) have found a great little shop where we live that do the complete suit, shoes, top hat and gloves for £79 each....Burtons mens shop do the same sort of thing as Debenhams and I think Asda have also added a wedding range (but dont quote me on that) :0)

I've found a place on ebay that hires suits for £50. The link is on my wall. We have however decided to buy the suits now as we found some that the h2b likes that are about £60. Matalan, Burtons (half price sale at the mo) BHS, M&S and debenhams are all good places. Like the h2b said he would rather pay a couple of quid more for a suit he can keep as he can always wear it for other events. (he doesn't want a morning suit) His mum has also said that if we are buying then she will buy the FIL his suit as again its something he will wear again. Its worked out now we have gone from having to pay for 5 suits to paying for 3 but two of them are the boys which we have found a place on ebay that does the full lot for £30 each. In the end it has saved us money buying!

Asda do a wedding range but to be honest you can tell its cheap polyester. If you are on a tight budget though I think you can get a suit for £14 and you wouldn't be able to tell on the photo's etc its just when you feel the fabric you know it is what it is.

we need 5 suits but we are going to buy. just because can't find any cheap enough to hire and comes to the same if not cheaper to buy! h2b also had hire suits when he was best man and hated them! he said the ones he tried on were different to the ones they actually had and they were soooo heavy had buttons missing and looked used.hiring from smaller hire shops is prob best i would say.
we will prob go to matalan for the suits

Be careful hiring from one of the more well known hire shops. We got completely screwed over and they didn't want to change things for us that they had got wrong. The quality was also pretty dire, holes in shirts, one shirt was a blouse!!!, whites varied in shades and plenty more problems. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone! However, I'm sure some/most people don't have a problem, although I know I wasn't the first to have issues with said shop.

angelan1986, r u buying the suits now or closer to the time, theres a 99% chance the offer will role round again, anyway word of advice, when the booklet says the offer starts get up matalan sharpish coz usually the offers run for 2/3 weeks and although they get more stock if its on promotion if u go in the second or third week its usually all gone by then
from an ex matalan employee :)

We are looking for a specific suit, but Debenhams are discontinuing it as of December. The only place I've found it within our budget is Hirewear Direct. The options they have available look fab, but I can't actually find any reviews from anyone who's used them anywhere. It's hugely frustrating.

My dad and ffil haven't had new suits in forever so we have arranged to have theirs to be bought for them (as a surprise) and the h2b is buying his and he has a suit addiction :o).

Wedding is a rare occurrence. Therefore, everything should be at the highest level. It is necessary to take a suit which suits best of all. And buying or renting is not important.

I think that it all depends on a budget that you have. If I had lots of money I would but suits, but fore sure I could save more if I hire them. Rental offices have a vast offer of clothing so there is a big choice. Also think about if the men will use the suit only once in their lives or more. If it is just for the wedding it would be better to hire.
