Hi all I asked my friend to be a bridesmaid as we were very close and she accepted. I spoke to her the other day as she's become really distant in these past few months and she said can I buy a bigger dress for her as she can't be bothered to lose weight to get in the one I've bought after she told me the size to buy. They want to try for another baby next May so she said there is no point loosing weight. I can't help but feel a bit peed off as she told me the size dress to get and now she isn't going to even try to get in it.

OH and I have been talking and have both said we would consider his sister as a bridesmaid. She is currently a size 18/20 but has started slimming world so she can lose weight for our wedding and she is doing really well on it.

I'm stuck on what to do :(

I'd be quite open with her and ask the question 'do you want to stand down?' It's not fair her messing you about as weddings are not cheap and by her saying she can't be bothered to lose weight, what else can't she be bothered with?!

Sorry you are in this situation, you need to do what is right for you and OH x

What size is your friend currently? I'm guessing as you said his sister is currently a 18-20 that she is the same size? From s professional point of view, if she is that size, she'd be better off losing the weight prior to trying for a baby for a majority of reasons.

Yeah she is the same size GF. When I bought the dresses she was a size 16 so asked for a size 14 as she wanted to lose weight. I don't know why she is thinking the way she is as she was big with a first baby a s she said she couldn't cope then so I dread to think what she will be like if she gets even bigger next time

To be honest she should not have said order smaller. With my moh she ordered an 8 as the 10 was showing up too big in the bust, as it was the 8 fitted her perfect, but she did have to do a bit of crash dieting in the run up just to make sure she could do it up,

This is what I've said to her. It's a stretchy back which gives a little lee way but not enough for the weight she keeps putting on

Exactly, I'd never suggest. Getting a smaller size without losing the weight in case I could not.

I think that's really selfish of her, I had the same issue with one of my bridesmaids, she asked me to order a 16when she's currently a 20, I said no because I no her patterns with weight loss and if the dress didn't fit she wouldn't have a dress to wear, so I compromised I ordered an 18 but luckily it fits quiet well and she wouldn't need to loose to much to fit in comfortably. Like Emma has said maybe you need to ask her and have H2B's sister take her place xx

If she wants a new dress make her pay for it as she told u what size to buy originally

Agreed she should lose weight before trying for a baby it would be better for her but she should now be willing to pay for her own outfit as youve already pulled out the expense for her to say no

She asked for that size so either she looses weight or pays for her own new dress, cheeky mare!
