So last night we had our '6 week befor ethe day' talk with our wedding coordinator.
I initially planned to have paper pompoms hanging from the ceiling which she had said intially was fine, so naturally i went ahead and bought a shed load of pom poms only yesterday for her to tell me that they wouldnt be allowed to hang directly from the ceiling but the wooden beams across the room.
Normally it would be ok but the beams are quite low into the room so to hang pom poms from them would be rediculous as everybody would be stooping to avoid them. So she agreed to having them attatched to string or something and have them sort of hanging like bunting across the room...... Only problem is now that i have no idea how im going to do this.
I figure having pom poms on string would be pretty 'heavy' ? Do i use cotton or fishing wire? She wants me to unravel all the pom poms and have them attatched to the string before the day so her staff are not faffing with them....... How do i transport them without them getting crushed and tangled? Has anybody got any advice on how to hang and transport these now regrettable pom poms?

i think i would use fishing wire as it is clear and you won't really see it, although make sure it isn't neck height :') i think i would package them all in a plastic container in a car, they are pretty light so they shouldn't really crush eachother

Ive looked on @m@z0n but theres so many lengths and widths etc... I dont know how flimsy it is. Will it hold tissue paper?
I really wish she would have told me i may have had something else instead of the pompoms.

How heavy are your pom poms!! When we go fishing we use 16lb line and that is really strong stuff.

I'd say you'd be fine with light weight stuff, and I'd buy more than you may need just so you know you've got enough and don't need to have a mad dash trying to sort it nearer the time.

Lmao Mrs T Hurley, i know i know.... But its like when you hand christmas cards at christmas and when you get to the middle the string somehow winds up lower to the ground than you imagined. I forsee the pom poms tickling peoples heads at somepoint. The wedding coordinator called an hour ago said the room is free the day before so if i would be hapoy going down to help out that would a possibility. Which is good news i suppose. ;-)

Are the pom poms already in full bloom so to speak or are they flat packed and need to be puffed up etc? How were you planning on getting them to the venue anyway?

I think I would take advantage of having the venue the day before, at least that way you can get them put exactly where you want them and not have to leave it to the venue to decide

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

Theyre flat... Which are neatly packed in a box but she wants them puffing up. Nightmare really.
Thing is she will only ket us know at the end of August if we will have the room available to be set up.... Due to perhaps a booking this month or something. So im leaving it until september if we manage to have the room ill puff them up then if not its a last minute job and a bin bag for transport arghh

We've got Pom poms in our marquee and have attached them to a string with fishing wire as everything else we tried just made them slide down once we tied it to the ceiling x
