Hello we have a DJ booked for our evening reception but we would also like a local singer so we have some live music too. We were thinking she could sing when evening guests arrive and perhaps sing our first dance. How long would everyone have a singer sing for before the DJ kicks in? Is there any other time anyone is having a singer? Any suggestions appreciated!

We had a band... So we had them play a set before the first dance then we had the cake cutting and first dance at 8.40, then the dj carried on til 9.45 then we had another set by the band then the dj finished off the night... The band played two sets of 40 mins... Though not sure if you'd have a single singer sing for that long each time x

It would depend on how much they were charging. We just had a DJ for the evening and put a CD on whilst the wedding breakfast etc was taking place.

We have a local singer at our wedding. We love him and seen him at 3 weddings/events ivebeen to, plus used to perform every Friday at my old job. We have three sets, first during photos to keep guests busy, and two half hour sets at the reception. He's also learning our first dance to ding for us :)

My favourite local band are useless and impossible to tie down and are rubbish at replying to messages. We are going to wait until after Christmas and look at our options again. We can always have the DJ all evening, and already have my friend to play and sing an acoustic version of our first dance song for us :)

Looking back now, I think a singer would have been great at our wedding. A good singer really can add to the relaxing enjoyable experience for everyone. I think if we had room in our budget, we would have had one

We're having a singer. He will sing during the wedding breakfast and then will do the djing on the evening as well as about 1.5 hours worth of singing. We wanted a way to bring everyone together and I think this does just that. We also are having a magician during the drinks reception to keep everyone occupied
