nearly have the invites finished... Just need to take out the ... for peoples names as the printers is going to type them in yey and then I think I am ready to show. Had to change from edwardian font tho as it looked a bit silly as it was very small and they couldnt make it bigger and it looked disproprortional so I think we have used italics 309? not sure but it still looks very elegant. Will post piccies when i have our official invitation and start handing them out yey. Only have to wait till Sun fingers crossed whoop :)

same here i did it twice so my scar is quite sizable really traumatic for a little one to see all that blood and be in so much pain.

    bless her

i used country baskets for my flowers that i needed in addition to the bouquets i bought already made. i just florists tape to bind them together as its a tad neater (personal preference)

the website is rubbish the warehouses are the best! they are HUGE! and always full of little bits and pieces so worth a look you need a trade card for them tho but its well worth the hassle. we got one because my mum does flowers for an irish dancing school and other bits and pieces and i managed to get a colleague card through her

XBox widow they are great! what sweets are you putting on them?

a.bird......I used to make clothes for my daughter too when she was a little girl.....and now she is a big girl, i taught her how to do it herself and bought her her own machine and she makes her own......and sometimes makes things for friends. Its a great skill to have isnt it?

Its such a money saver.....is it taking you long to do them? I am making my bridesmaid dresses too, and MY OWN dress! but I absolutely love all the quirky things we can add to them.
Seeing loads of lovely dresses where we like that part of one dress and this part of another.....we can put it all together in our own creation cant we?

RaggedyAnne, they're not taking too long to do. I'm just doing a little bit at a time (having a four year old kind of distracts from sewing time). I bought a pattern but decided i didn't like it that much so all I've used of it is the bodice and made up the rest as I went (remembering to take notes of what I've done so I can do the same for the next one). It really is great to make things for yourself, I love adding the crystals for these wedding things.
Next up I'm making labels for the pick and mix sweetie jars and then I'll get started on flowergirl dress number 2.

    ditto a.bird
the dresses I am making I am only using the bodice, and I find its better, and quicker if I just use a rectangle of fabric for the skirt part of the dress.
I have finished one dress, and almost finished #2 dress. then there are just 2 more to make, then my own! cant wait to get started on mine to be honest.
the pick 'n' mix jars sound great! I would have loved a sweet stand at my wedding, but I only have 1 child attending and 19 adults....not worth it really. (I could do the old fashioned sweets that we remember as kids though?)

We're only having about 4 children there, so I'm doing half of the jars with things like my crumbly fudge and chocolate truffles, plus some of our childhood favourites. Plus I didn't want the standard favours that most people will just leave behind. This way if most of it gets left behind We get to take it all home and enjoy it!

Blondie, these are really easy to make you just need a plant pot, the brown plastic ones every one has, a wooden stick, polystyrene balls, a bit of plaster to set your sticks in the pot. A bit of organza and ribbon. You could purchase it all from a craft shop but I got two double kits with instructions from the bay for £23.00 and I was quoted £25.00 for one ready made with only one ball. They are fun to make, oh! and RaggedyAnne you are welcome at my wedding and you can sit anywhere you want xxx

Well I enjoy it and would do it for someone as a favour, but a business is a bit too much for me because I work full time already, a good job with a good pension that I am not going to be leaving. I couldnt fit it into my life right now, OK for myself or a friend I can do it because I have given myself plenty of time, but when you get to doing it for money.....the rules change.

Thank you for the compliments , they really do keep me going..... :)

Thank you KA... up to now this has been the easiest and quickest by far to make.....
Its not only an easier pattern but the fabric is slightly different in feel, and its beautiful to work with. Its sitting on the dress form now for 2-3 days so that it 'drops'. and it needs a good pressing. oh and of course the sash and zip needs fitting , but waiting for H2Bs daughter to come on friday to get her to try it on for the final fitting before adding the zip....
