I've been trying out some ideas based on something I found on p1ntrest for my centerpieces, the photo's are in my DIY album if some lovely ladies wouldn't mind giving me there thoughts on whether it works please? (btw I will be using a white clock when I find the ones I want at the right price). These are just my first attempts so looking for criticism to improve them. The clocks will also be my table numbers set to different times to fit in with my NYE theme. TIA for any thoughts and advice!!

Mrs D, I've had a look, looks great, I would only say that personally I feel the candle is too much to have on top but the one single flower is too little, maybe try and find something in the middle.

I think they are a lovely idea but agree with glitter fairy about candle too much as think its too high what about a figurine or something delicate? And like the plant inside to go over top of clock rather than infront of :)) have u looked at getting the original glass vase thing? As would look amazing with that x

The Bell Jars are about £30 each with needing about 10 so a bit out of my price range those hurricane vases are £7.99 each from one of the home ware stores (which incidentally my dad is a buyer for so will ask if he can get me some discount on them) so it works out the cheaper option. I wasn't sure about the candle but feel there needs to be something on top, I'm also considering putting them on a sort of stand just to bring them up to eye level (they only stand about 30cm off the table). I'm hoping to use mistletoe and holly as the leaves and have a poinsettia as the "feature" flower but can't get hold of any atm. Will try a few other ideas but thank you so much for your feed back, it's great to get some outside opinions!!

Mrsc2bee similar to yourself in that I was very critical of my diy items. I made pocket fold invites which I was so nervous about giving out as I thought everyone would think they looked naff, but everyone loved them.
Plus I'm fast running out of time, with under 5 weeks to go!!
Hopefully I'll finish the hangers this week, I also forgot I need to add the iron on gem bridesmaid/flower girl/bride/etc into our night shirts, to wear on the wedding morning whilst we get ready.

This is them with curling ribbon but I bought some 5mm satin ribbon which needs threading through the loops. because its material its much more difficult. Don't have a pic of my mock up with proper ribbon. Have asked OH to send me one.

I have planned my invites and STDs. bought a little bird bunch for them.

I found the sizing the hardest part if I am honest. I wanted to use standard size envelopes and 1 A4 per main body of card. once that was sorted it all fell into place

Thanks Mrs C 99p for 10 so a bargain too! We have the birds theme going throughout

What style invites are you doing? We have pocket folds and are keeping it simple. On each tab we are just punching a bird through the ivory card so that the red underneath comes through. then the front will just be a rectangle, red mounting with ivory on top printed with "Wedding Invite" or "Evening Invite"

We are having navy blue pocketfold with ivory card and navy blue writing ( or black I dunno yet!) but not sure what pattern or style to have on it. And don't know if I want just a card boarder wrapped around to hold it together or have lace and if lace hen do I have ribbon or cArd :/ so confusing haha. And was sort of thinking lace so could have it for evening invites to tie them in together as for evening just having a piece of card with writing on rather than a pocket fold as need too many

    oo that sounds pretty.

I would use material lace as it would look more special. You can get self adhesive stuff now which makes it easier.
You could have both, have the card wrapped round with the lace bordering the card. (personally I really like the card wrapped round as keeps everything from falling out!)

Could then have a strip of it on the evening invites

Is material lace different to ribbon lace? Is there even such a thing as ribbon lace haha. I want lace on the place cards too so thought might tie it all in together. think I need to start them n see how they look.

Im'm also painting my own frames for table names and ATM they are painted gloss but not sure if it looks too new n shiny rather than rustic so would a Matt White look better?

Mrs K, are you painting the whole thing? or just painting decorative bits onto it?

If painting the whole thing, it might be better getting massive coloured card and using the H0bbycr@ft one as a template to make your own?
if not the card might warp with the wetness of the paint

Mrsk2b I haven't got the cardboard box but did get boxes from h0bbycr@ft and used a tester pot from another shop as didn't need a lot but it was proper cardboard so not sure what their postboxes are but as long as u do it thinly and let it dry n don't paint too many times should be fine or could decoupage it would look nice x

You will struggle to print onto the navy unless getting it printed professionally. Perhaps, navy writing on pink paper backed onto navy card with white ribbon?

For evening would just paper be ok or do you think on card to? I am thinking a5 size but not sure if it should be folded in half for it to go in invites. And if it's paper on card or just card would that be ok? The pocket folds are going to be a4 for the centre card and slightly smaller side pieces x

I'd say card for evenings personally. but then ok to print on paper and mount onto card. it wouldn't get as tatty as paper gets dog eared more easily.

to give you some indication of size, my invites fit into DL envelopes
middle section where main invite will be = 10.7cm
right section with pocket = 10.3cm
    left flap over = 8.7
That is exactly A4 width so inserts would be approx. 10cm.

I haven't made them yet. Just made a mock up with cheap card from when I was a kid.
I want red pocket folds with ivory printed on for the text. Ivory will be 160gsm from H0bbycr@ft - £5 for 100 sheets. The red will have to be the bay I think. I will get a few samples to get colour and quality. I want 250gsm ideally.

I will use a metal ball scorer and boning tool yes. What I normally do for mass projects like this is I set up my cutting matt with masking tape so that I can just position each card so I don't have to measure each one.. Just line it up to the tape.

I'll be sending out my invites with 6 months to go Mrs C2bee possibly even earlier that that but we're getting married on NYE so need to give everyone enough notice so that they don't make other plans. I would say 6 months is fine for day guests give them 6-8 weeks to reply then send out your evening invites (and extra day invites if you have some original day guests that can't make it) give them 6-8 weeks to reply then you have yourself a month to chase people so you can have definite numbers a month before giving you enough time to sort out food drink favours etc
