Has anyone made button wedding flowers? My sister has just sent me some ideas and were going to give them a go when she's down next, they would be perfect for her summer wedding!!

Just added my first attempt at wedding invites. Know I have ages to get them sorted but I wanted to see how easy it was to do it myself (and what the cost is) and have a go at a few ideas to see what I like. Photo's of my first attempt are in my photo album, cost about £1 to make but took about an hour and a half lol

Thank you, they did take ages they're so fiddly (plus h2b thought he was being hilarious by sticking my ruler and pencil to his face with the double sided sticky tape.... to be fair he was lol) I like the idea of making them myself but they will take for ever and I've had a quote to have someone else make the same thing at £2 so I'm not sure if it is worth doing it myself, I did enjoy it though and I have got 2 years before I need to have them ready to send!!

I have a question! For those doing their own invites, what is the size of your RSVP cards? Mine are 105 mm x 80 mm, and the envelope for them would be a C7. Is it ok for posting? I am afraid it's too small and that it would get lost on the post...

MrsD2B i made pocket fold invites for my wedding they were fiddly at first but when you get a couple out of the way they take no time at all, i done all my day & night invites in 2 days that was working on them from 9-9 i did have breaks in between to feed myself and sort kids tea, but once you make a start it will be done in no time and i think its more special when they hand made a lot of people have complemented me on how well i have done with them and thought they had been proffessionally made. :-) xx

I think I will make my own I have 2 years before they need to be sent out so it work out about 3 a month I need to make. Does anyone know where I can bulk buy diamante style snowflake stickers from? I need about 300. Also need A3 black card and A1 pearlecent silver card, looked on the bay but can find anything, I'll trawl through the normal places i.e @mazon, h0bby cr@ft in a mo but was hoping someone might know of some secret site which has all your invite needs?
Your bear is lovely Kirsty, are you just doing the bride and groom or bears for everyone? I wish I could knit, I tried to make a scarf once.... it had massive great big holes in it lol

Thank you! I think just bride and groom bears for the mo although I have considered doing them for the bms as thank yous but I'm not a very quick knitter. Def not for the 80 guests though lol!
MrsD2b I'm wondering if somewhere like a childrens shop would have snowflake stickers and card? Or perhaps look to wholesalers that supply offices for the card as it might be a bit cheaper. X

Just be casually browsing and looking at cake ideas online when I saw the most beautiful cake stand, the cake it's self wasn't anything special but the stand makes it look amazing. So it got me thinking is it possible to make a cake stand? Has anyone attempted this? The main body of my cake will actually be cupcakes but I am also planning to have a 2 tier cake on top so what ever I use will need to support this weight. There's some photo's in my DIY album of the sort of thing I'm looking to make but was hoping someone here may have attempted this and may have some tips and advise as to where to start?

im spending my morning/afternoon making our favour boxes today, its taking ages as we have to cut them out (they got printed at the printers but we said we would cut them to save pennies)

add double sided sticky tape to the folds, fold them, stick them, add a coupeof butterflies to the outside of the box for extra effect, i then have to add tissue paper and add the sweets, we still need to add the love hearts to them and cut the top so it can clip together but we dont want to risk ripping them so are waiting to do that at the end. phew! que 70 boxes.....

Hi Mrs C2bee I am also making pocket folds. For the actuall pocket fold itself I have used 170gm matt black card it's slightly thinner but it fold's well (and as they are going to have to be posted the less weight the better) then for the inserts I am using 260gm pearlescent card, I will then have the actual writing part printed on to a gloss paper and stuck on to the inserts. I have some photo's in my album if you want to see the sort of thing I am doing. As for your suitcase is it just the 1 you have? If you have a couple you could stack them to make some sort of display or if it's just the one you could use it to hold your favours or sweets if you want to do a sweet stall or something. have a look on p1nterest there's loads of great ideas on their!!
SamanthaW you can only upload photo's on to threads if you are a power user, if you want people to see what you have made tho you can make an album on your profile and we can have a look at that!
Teresa I bet you so glad to have the favour boxes finished!! Well done!

It appears to be so far, I will let you know how they hold over time as it's going to be a while until they are posted. However I have stuck a bit of the silver card on the center page of the pocket fold to create a border which has also helped to make the whole pocket fold more ridged (if you know what I mean). The upside of using the thinner card is not only the invites being lighter, but they also fold neater and are easier to put together (I did my trial runs with card which was twice as thick and struggled a lot more with it).
