No worries, you should get some good ideas from here.

I personally used silk flowers for my bouquet. I never made them but a friend did as I am not crafty at all.

Love this thread!! We're not getting married for a few years but we have set a date mid winter so really want to embrace that with DIY creations. In addition my sister is getting married next summer and were planning on DIY'ing a lot of her decorations (I currently have a shed full of empty coffee jars and wine bottles as she doesn't drink either, hope she uses them else I just look like an alcoholic with a caffeine addiction!!)
I haven't started doing things yet for my wedding as it is soooooo far away, but I've made some decisions. I'm thinking for center pieces of spraying twigs and branches silver arranging them in vases and hanging black baubles with guests names on each bauble (as place names) I will then ask each guest to write a few words of wisdom or a wish on their bauble for us to keep and hang on our x-mas tree!! I'm playing with a few ideas to make this a bit more visually exciting, maybe a red and silver bauble wreath to sit each vase in or something.
I would like to make the invites, save the dates etc as I made my daughters christening invites and everyone was really impressed, however I have found exactly what I want for £2 an invite I think it cost about the same for me to make them and if I have someone else do them it saves me the hassle.
Can anyone recommend where to get good quality silk flowers? As I would love to give making my own bouquets a go! Plus I thinking of doing something with x-mas tree decs and holly to tie on the seat sashes, I'm thinking fake holly won't cause as many laddered tights!!

    Hi Ladies.

All your DIY stuff look amazing. I want to do as much as i can on my own for my wedding but am worried that it wont look as great :(
For the invites and all other stationary, I want to have an ivory white card but a coloured boarder at the back if that makes sense. So was going to stick the ivory/white card to the coloured backing card. Do you just use a scissors to cut up the front bit of the invite with all the information on or is there a specific tool that can help you do this? Hope that makes sense. Please let me know how you all went about in making all your stationary as it all looks amazing.

Bianca a paper guillotine is the best tool to use as it helps get straighter lines :)

I love this thread and will definitely be posting pics on here as soon as I'm a power user lol have always been very crafty and made loads of bits for my mums handfasting ceremony last March and loads for her eldest's wedding 4 years ago (I think - we don't talk to him now!)
Have a huge list of things that will be handmade for our big day and we can start early with lots of it to spread the cost; here's what we're aiming to make and who will be handling it lol

    Hi DanielleMystic

I will have a look into the guillotine thing thanks. My main concerns with the invite was the cutting as i want it to look good. I also want to try and make my invites, save the dates, rsvps, place settings, table plan, table numbers too.
We are also thinking about having a sweetie table as the H2B is obsesed woth sweets. If he could only eat sweets I think he would lol (dont know how he manages not to put any weight on though lol )
its amazing how many little things there are that you end up thinking of :)

We may possibly have a sweet table, I would just buy (and/or collect) loads of different shape and size containers and bulk buy sweets from cash and carry. You could make your display look a bit more appealing by creating different height platforms with boxes and cover with a cloth

Danielle I love your wicker hearts, I would love to try to make something like that for my "pew" ends but I honestly don't know where to start lol. can you use any twigs to make them or is it a specific type and where would you get them? I'm guessing you use wire as the frame and wrap the twigs around it? and if I were to add foliage in as you have done how long will they last before they go all brown and dead? Sorry for all the questions but I love them so thought I'd try it myself and see if I can do it?!

I ordered most of my items on eb@y but I wasted a bit of money doing that, as a few items that arrived weren't what I'd expected ie different colour, thickness, etc. After not being happy with some of the card I went to the r@nge & found the exact colour, thickness of card there.
The shops are dearer then eb@y but at least you know 100% what you are buying is what you are after.

Mrs Robson they are beautiful!! I thinking about making my own pocket invites, where did you get the template from? And what size card did you use? I had a quick go the other day (just to see how easy they are) using A4 card but they turned out tiny!!

I made mine out of A4 card, I didn't use a template just made it up as I went along, lol.
Working from right to left, I made the 1st fold at 10.3cm, then the next fold at 10.5cm, the actual pocket was made using a separate piece of card. The pocket was 12cm x 10cm, I folded a 1cm flap around the edges & the attached it to the card using strong double sided tape. The pointy bit was just a case of marking the centre of the card, then marking 4.5cm (I think) from the fold line, Join these up with a ruler & cut :)

The finished invite when closed measures 10.5 x 21cm so it fits in a DL envelope (11 x 22cm).

I hope that makes sense x

SarahS319 I ordered my card and all that from pda cardandcraft ordered more than i needed just to be on the safe side they also do a sample kit only costs a couple of pound and they send a sample of all the card stock they have.it cost me £120 for all my card that was to make Day pocket invites, night invites, table numbers, table plan, order of service, menu cards. After i make everything i will still have stuff left if i knew exactly how much i needed i could of saved about 20-40 pound but would rather have more than i need than not enough. pictures of my invites are in my albums. x
