Myself and my partner decided on a buffet for our reception but are unsure if we should still have set tables for people if we choose a big enough venue. What is everyones opinion.

Depends what you want, if you want a set plan then have one :)

I'm having a buffet too - we will probably do a seating plan just so it's straight-forward for everyone, if everyone comes in and picks their own seat then there may be odd ones here or there due to family sizes etc. Ours too is big enough for more tables if we want but it might look a bit empty if everyone is spread out?

Unless it's going to be very informal (ie with people eating at different times/whenever they fancy) I personally would have a seating plan, as otherwise you might end up with odd numbers/families/couples being split up, etc.

I have been to two weddings with a hot buffet, we were told where to sit. It was nice as orthough it was slightly informal it was nice to still have a seating plan. Xx

I am having a buffet instead of a sit down meal but still having a seating plan as its still a bit formal and gives people the chance to mingle more as i know if i dont have a seating plan people will automatically sit with their own famillies and we want the both famillies and friends to get to know each other more

I went to a wedding with a buffet reception and we still has seating plans in place, it also avoids people all wanting to sit together round one table x
