I bought my dress from a wedding dress shop in Westfield Stratford. When my mum went to pick it up, they tried to roll up my massive dress to fit in a bag the size of a grocery shopping bag that would normally have been used for accessories! When my Mum said that they needed to find a bigger bag as it had lots of detail and beading that could be ruined by the scrunching up, they were very rude, but eventually offered a larger bag.
Needless to say I am unwilling to have them alter my dress, since they have such disregard for such a costly dress. Does anyone have any recommendations for a seamstress in and around Hertfordshire. I currently live in East Herts, so North London is only down the road as well.

Sorry cannot help with a seamstress, but awful behaviour from the shop. Have you got book face you could enquire on locally.

Yes, but nobody I know on there has been married near me. A lot of my friends have all moved across the country. It really is such a pain to have to find someone, its like a hidden industry!

I'm nowhere near, but I would go into any local bridal shop and you'll find someone is usually happy to help, even if it's not from them. If they won't do it, ask the staff for recommendations. You'll get there!
