Hello everybody. I'm new to this forum thing and hope someone can give me some advice. I've just got engaged to my boyfriend of three years and am looking forward to becoming an army wife. He is currently doing commando training as a royal engineer. We hope to wed around Easter of 2016 but how do we go about setting a date when we have no idea where or what he'll be doing at that time? Will he be able to book leave or do we go ahead booking and planning and have fingers crossed whilst buying a lot of insurance :-). Thank you for listening. Jo

I'd imagine that the best thing you can do is speak to his commanding officer really. If he is training, you could always wait until he passes out and is given his new unit and speak to them :) You can still do research and buy the things that don't matter with the date like your wedding dress! Speak to his CO and find out the situation :) x

I'm also not sure, were likely to be in a similar situation for our wedding but its my stepson not my H2B. Our wedding is on the 8th August he starts at Harrogate army college on the 8th march & passes out early Sept, we will be gutted if he isn't granted leave.

Suddenly remembered something - a fellow bride I know was due to get married this year on 17th August however the Army wouldn't give him leave for it and there was also problems regarding married quarters so they had to have a small registry office do at the end of April quickly and then celebrated properly as planned in August by which point the leave problems were resolved. Apparently it was great but it must have been hard for them! I know that may not happen to you but thought it might help to know what happened to others in similar circumstances x
