Im not sure on weather to use save the date cards, i never used them twelve years ago when i got married, but not sure if i should this time and im trying to save money where i can, help please i would appriciate it just to help me to make a final decision. x

i wasnt going to send them but after having an email saying they were free and i just had to pay post and packaging i bought some only 25 mind because all my family are close and will know the date anyway its only for daves family who ive never met before.

I sent them but only cos we are getting married in the summer and i didn't want people booking holidays and stuff when it was our wedding. also, some of my day guests work saturdays, so it gives them plenty of time to get the day off work. xx

oh yeah i also sending them because we getting married on a weekday albeit a friday but still its a working day

I made my own - just the cost of ink, card, glue, envelopes and stamps. I did it as it was something I could do early on in the planning process.

I wasn't going to bother either, but then we are geting married on one of the busiest Saturdays of the summer and in the middle of the summer holidays, ...we thought it was best to as we didnt want our intended guests booking holidays and not being able to make our day x I ended up making them and sent them out last month, loads of people commented on how lovely they were and how pleased they were that we thought about it as they were planning holidays etc xx I would send them about a year before the wedding date xx

We sent ours April 2011 for our wedding in April 2012 (Easter Saturday, so quite busy) :o)

Hi Ladies, I am going to be making mine in about 2 weeks to send out with the christmas cards, we get married 27th Jan 2013 but the company us (and many people invited) work for have had their booking window open since April until the end of March 2013 so we have already had to book our time off - or am I being over eager? To the OP - I guess it depends how popular the day is / whether it is a working day and how many people are already aware of the date - if everyone already knows the date then no point sending them out. xx

We made our own and emailed them out to save on postage, we're going to send out the actual invites - have a go making your own in powerpoint etc or my friend took a photo with her and her fiance holding date cards! Or you could put it on FB and tag your friends but we just emailed them out with a nice message etc :-)
We sent ours out as soon as we knew the date, so about 11 months before, but we have a lot of family overseas so wanted to give them notice etc! plus it's a bank holiday weekend...

lol. ive been looking at them all afternoon on the net and fingers crossed i will be getting together with my mum soon to start thinking about what we would like as she is going to make them for me, or maybe we will do them together, that way i will start to get excited soon.ha ha .x
