Hi on our save the date cards it says please save the date for the wedding of sam and jay on 12 Aug 2017 in citation to follow. Are these okay to send to both day and eve guests (as says invitation to follow) or just day guests??

Hi Samantha, you could send to both day and evening as these are really just a pre warning to keep a date free for an event. The specifics of whether they come full day or just evening will be on your official invites. However we have only sent ours to the full day guests. Our wedding is on a Thursday and so people will need to book time off work and perhaps arrange accommodation. I didn't want any of the evening guests to wrongly assume they would need the day off. As we will be sending official invites at least 6 months in advance I feel that's plenty of notice for eve guests. Do what makes most sense to you. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't send STD to evening guests, as they don't have to change much of their routine to attend and they don't need to save the whole day for the wedding.

I would send to all, if your evening guests do work they may need to take some time off depending on your location. I was an evening guest at a wedding but had to finish 2 hours early in order to get to the hotel we were staying at, have a shower, get changed and get to the venue. As you say, invites will follow and specify day or evening. If eve guests do book time off work, they can cancel if they need to.

Everyone coming to the evening is coming to the wedding, but if I was doing what you are I think Id have sent them to everyone with a tag saying "evening" on it. Personally if I receive a save the date I assume im coming to the wedding.

Personally I would only send save the dates to day guests. If I sent anything to evening, I would send save the evening out. only issue with that is if you wanted to bump them up to a day guest.
I have only sent them to day guests

We only sent save the dates to day guests only. Personally if I received one I would think it was for all day. If you did want to send it to those invited to evening only you will probably have to amend the wording so it was obvious for them.

I would be tempted to amend to "save the evening" for evening guests only
Save the day for those invited to the whole day
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
