We attended our friends CofE wedding on Saturday & as she was 20 minutes late it got me panicking about our day. Our ceremony is at 4pm, what happens if the previous ceremony's brides are late?? There ceremony seemed quite short so I'm not sure if the priest missed some bits out to recoup the lost time??

Are you having a civil ceremony or church?

Ours is a church ceremony (CofE)

I don't think churches pack in more than 2 weddings in a day. I know our church only does one a day so it didn't matter that I was 20 minutes late. It's more of an issue with civil ceremonies where registrars tend to have a tight schedule fitting in many weddings in a day.

Speak to your priest if you're worried and ask if you're the only wedding that day.

I know there is a wedding at 2pm not sure if there's any previous to that? Our priest is a nightmare to get hold of, he did say about having a meeting early next year, so I'll have to make a note to bring it up then.

Looking on g00gl3 most churches say that if you are running late there is a high chance your ceremony will have to be cancelled & rescheduled for another day, maybe our friend got lucky as hers was the last ceremony??

yes i would ask him when you see him next, we are having a civil ceremony and have been told that i can't be late or they will have to cancel for the day xx

The last church wedding I went to I would not have minded a 20 minute delay as the bride turned out to be over an hour late. It was a bit of a mickey take really as we were all sat there waiting, which then meant the rest of the day was off plan.

Our ceremony was supposed to be 3pm, but the registrar didn't turn up until 3:45. The office sent another one (the first one was stuck in accident traffic), and both turned up at the same time.

Churchs give plenty time between weddings. Some ppl want flowers some dont. Thered things that need tidying and set bk in place etc. There maybe a singer or something so that wud need to be put up or took down.
They rly do give plenty time i cant remember what i was told time wise but on a few dates we had we were given a time which was hours apart from the next wedding

U will meet with them next year i think its april for us. Just make sure u ask then
I think 10 mins would be acceptable for churchs my driver said we wpuld set off about 25past 3 my wedding is 3.30 but ita literaly just dwn the road he said usualy all brides they take go for a 5-10min delay as some ppl rly do think 3.30 means turn up at that time lol(u always get that 1 guest that turns up just in nick of time)

OMG glitterfairy her poor H2B must have thought he'd been jilted at the alter!! I hate lateness, I find it very rude & most of the time there is no excuse for it, if anything i'll probably arrive early lol

MidgetGem that's exactly why i'm going to word my invites roughly like this "please arrive at 3:45, ceremony starts at 4pm", then there is no confusion. Our ceremony is at 4pm there is another ceremony at 2pm, so aslong as that bride is on time they should be finished around 3pm at the latest. Which should leave plenty of time for their photo's, guests to leave & ours to arrive without crossing paths...hopefully!!
