Don't worry so much about what you eat but how much of it. Have a pint of water or squash 1/2 hour before you eat. Try using a side plate for your main meal and eat slowly. If you have a sandwich cut it into 4. After you've finished wait for 1/2 hour. If you're still hungry, have some more. You probably won't be though. I've been getting H2B to do this. He was initially complaining about the amount of food I was giving him BUT he hasn't once wanted more.
