I believe silk are cheaper.
However, as a flower lover- I would always go for real. Noting beeats them. If you aren't fussed, silk.

I am having real flowers for me and foam flowers for my bridesmaids and centre pieces. I ordered my foam flowers from lavender of london. They cost £15.00 each and you can't tell the difference. I will put some pictures on so you can have a look. They also do delivery.

I'm having artificial but never heard of foam flowers... Interesting... H2b has hayfever and his sister (bridesmaid) has bad asthma so easier all round to fake it :D xx

We're going silk because of Ross' allergies and are getting them from one of the advertisers on here. Cost of all flowers if they were real - £325 Cost of silk that look just as good - £92 :) xxx

I am having real flowers for displays and for my boquet but the bridesmaids are having silk as they are children. Silk is generally cheaper but once you have got something stick to it. I am making my bridesmaids boquets and i keep buying more and more silk flowers, but you can buy some lovely ready made silk boquets. xxx

Im having silk and they are beautiful they were made by one of the members of UK Bride and I was so happy with them, I also wanted to keep them too and because you can order and get them early you can save money by ordering them at the previous years prices which I did, have had them in storage for 6 months. I'm actually having a bit of both, The attendants will have artifical flowers and I'm getting a fresh bouquet made up for myself so I can put it on my Granny's grave when the day is over.

We're having wooden roses for ours, only because of how much it would cost for real & I want to keep mine forever after as well.
To be honest it's personal choice, how much do you want to spend, what do you prefer, do you want to keep them after & if you do are you willing to pay to preserve them?
CommentAuthorheidianne
I'm having silk because I have to many hayfever sufferers to put them through real flowers and its working out cheaper

Ive got a mixture! I have 3 wands and a posey made of silk flowers (ebay seller, fantastic and beautiful) for my flower girls and my older bridesmaid and I will have real flowers, along with my mums corsage! Not bothering with any at my reception as its in a social club, will be dark as just a buffet and disco and the church I'm getting married in is so beautiful there just isn't any need!¬ Also my button holes are feathers again from Ebay! :) I think they can all look lovely! xxx
CommentAuthorjenn
you dont the same smell that fills the air with silk flowers, but i think that silk would out cheaper! :)
CommentAuthorlinzi
we are having foam for flower girls and bridesmaids, and foam for centrepieces. Real for my bouquet and button holes. Then will see what we can afford for the rest of the venue decoration as to whether we have extra real flowers about the place.
