Hi all - I've been emailing around a few VW Camper companies and today found one on my local wedding planning page on Facebook - the lady that owns the business is so friendly and she replied so quickly, willingly chatting away to me and giving me all the info that I needed. I've only heard back from 1 other company and I must have emailed about 5.

She quoted me £359 which is a flat rate for the whole day - whether they transport anyone or whether we just have it at the venue for photo opportunities. This includes a shuttle run if needed - which will be needed as I'd need to get my bridesmaids and my mum there first, then come back for me and my dad - and a bottle of champagne. Not sure yet if we will actually need to be transported ourselves as I would ideally like to stay at my venue the night before, but depends if someone books exclusive use the day before. They would also be happy to drive anywhere (within reason obviously) so we can take photos elsewhere if required.

The con is it's not the VW I would have chosen if given the choice, it's just a plain mustardy colour and not the shape I would have liked. However, for this price (which I think is a good deal), should I really worrying about the colour/style!? It will still look lovely with the ribbons on and everything.

Does everyone think this sounds like a good deal? If we went for this, we would probably have money left in the budget to get OH and his best men a car (he previously said he doesn't really need one, although I know he would want one). xx

What were you actually looking for in terms of colour ect.
I think it sounds good and would be nice if just you and h2b went off in it for a 20 mins breather and time together - everyone keeps telling me we wont get any time to do that.

Some kind of pastel colour (my theme is vintage and pastel colours). That's a good idea about going off together for a while :)

I have just come across another website which has the ideal camper for me and also has a Porsche 911 which the OH would absolutely LOVE. Have contacted them for a quote so will see what they come back with. I think my heart is already with this one though.. Let's hope it's not too pricey..!! xx

    Fingers crossed for you :)
Alternative to the saved money would be to book the car as a surprise gift for h2b?

I think the look is very important, we have camper van's as well but I don't think I would have booked a mustard colour.

Was thinking about cars all night last night.. starting to think it really is just an expensive luxury and not needed. It is a lot of money just for transportation..

Anyway, turns out the dad of one of my bridesmaids actually has his own VW camper! I have asked her to ask him when he gets back from his honeymoon (he used it as the wedding car for his own wedding!) if he would mind if we borrowed it for the day. Would be a huuuge money saver - have said we would cover all fuel costs and give him extra as a thank you and probably a little gift also. :)

OH said last night he's really not fussed about having a nice car and that it's just a lot of money that we could be spending on something else more important. xx

Ouch!!! Don't get me wrong I would love to have some lovely cars but I know for a fact I would spend all these months leading up to the wedding worrying about the amount of money we still have to pay.. fingers crossed we can borrow my bridesmaids' dad's camper which will save us a lot of pennies :) then if OH decides he wants a car nearer the time then we should still have a bit of money in the budget to get him something sorted xx

If your friends vw doesn't come through & your not to bothered about cars, have a look into executive car hire. It's basically a posh taxi & a lot cheaper than wedding cars.

I just totally have my heart set on a camper as I think it would amazing in the photos! I'm not even fussed about travelling in it haha I just want it there! But if OH does decide he wants a car then it doesn't have to be anything fancy and we wouldn't want his to hang around for the photos either xx

My friend had a VW camper for her wedding. Would you like me to find out what company and how much it was? xx

Katie, I will wait and see what my friend's dad says first as that really would be the best and definitely the cheapest option.. it's a stunning little camper as well, he has obviously taken great care of it! But if that falls through I will take you up on that, thank you :)

I think if I was to go through a company I'd be looking at £350 minimum. I have just received a reply back from another company I emailed a few days ago and they have actually quoted me £450! xx

ok no worries :) We have paid 425 for our car. It's an old fashioned ivory convertible and it will be doing 2 trips to the church and then onto the reception. I love it :) xx
