Only downside i can see to a choccy fountain is kids getting proper messy, (would be a problem for us, 20 kids and half eat like little piggies lol)

Don't invite any kids (more chocolate for the big girls!) and if you get peckish in the middle of the night you can always suck your dress - win win!

Love this discussion Dove as I'm still undecided on whether to get one or not!!
People eating too much and making themselves sick is a con, someone getting chocolate all over your dress is a con.
They are yummy is a Pro!!! xx

the thing that put me off chocolate fountains was when i saw one being set up...to make the chocolate that runny they mix it with loads of oil. Yes, oil. So your not just dipping your strawberries/marshmallows etc in chocolate, your eating oil as well. gross! x

We've got one booked! only thing we do have booked at the minute! Pros i guess would be dont need a dessert, looks impressive, tastes amazing and is a talking point! Cons are spillage, people dipping parts of anatomy in there ( i know i have friends who would think it was hilarious to dip their clevage in never mind what the boys would do!) and people pouring drinks in! that makes it go gack apparently.

Ours is manned so there are 2 people serving with unlimited t hings to dip in and chocolate. Means hopefully less mess and less chocoalte on dress issues and no ddipping or adding anything that shouldnt be there! x

I've never seen a chocolate fountain, but i'm summizing that for the chocolate to stay melted and flowing, they must get hot... And from having lots of kids in the family, I know that they don't always get watched as well as they should. Parents can be too busy gossiping etc... Do you want any burnt kiddywinkles? x

pinkalice i guess it depends which company oure using, the one were using heats it up and keps it running by keeping it warm. I know because i've seen them doing it. They only use new chocolate so you know they're not re-using from other functions. It really helps if you see them at work before booking them. xx

Our one wont be recycled coz we will be putting the choc in ourselves so we know it wont of been used anywhere else. I dont think they are aloud to do that. It must be against health and safety.

I was thinking of getting one too. Don't think we will though- just down to cost and trying to do everything on a budget. But I think if your budget allows it; then go for it. My friend had one at her wedding and it was brill. The down side there was that the guests were only allowed one piece of fruit and one dip in.

We have go one booked and I am struggling to find any cons :D
Pros- The company we are using bring it and set it all up. They also decorate it with flowers to match your colour scheme. They do not use recycled chocolate or oil, it is 100% pure belgian chocolate. We are having a large milk choc fountain and a small white choc fountain. there will be 12 choices of dip, which are constantly restocked so they don't run out. The fountains come with 2 members of staff who will serve up the choc if neccessary and who keep litle hands, faces, feet, bodies or whatever, out of the choc. at the end, they dismantle and take away and any chocolate left is put in a box and we get to keep.

Cons - Really can't think of any. And if there are any, I am sure the fact that chocolate is involved automatically makes it a pro! :)

I have a problem with hygiene. Think of all them germs going into the chocolate when sticky hands go into it and then into the mouth and back again! Not for me thank you! Give me a big bar of chocolate any day though ;p

the choc fountains that run beautifully and look like a glorious cascade of it are not PURE chocolate fountains they have vegetable oil in them and dont taste as nice - always check with the vendor to make sure its 100% chocolate :) This coming from a huge choc fiend :D Oh and I couldnt have one as our niece would do a Vicar of Dibley and walk into it! Lol bless her!

My sister used a chocolate fountain for her wedding shower and it worked perfectly! There was a good crowd around this thing. Strawberries were a lot more popular than the bananas and plums. The only thing is it will leave chocolate drippings on the floor table, so be careful :)
