I'd definitely start looking around now and pay deposits on things like that. I booked my venue June 2014 and we getting married next March. Get as much as you can done as soon as possible as it will take away the stress closer to the time! Time will fly past even though it seems so far away :) good luck x

    Hi,

I would start looking now that way it gives you plenty of time to look at venues and make your booking. I booked my venue in oct 14 for a wedding on 1st August this year, and at the time 3 people were looking at our date so once we knew it was the right venue we booked it.
Also I've found the more you can arrange in advance the better. Have fun looking at venues!

I say the same get booking now you will be surprised how fast things book up and it will keep you organised and less stressed. I have found that having all the big things booked since February when we had 19 months to go has also helped us plan our budget as we had an idea in mind but now we know the costs we know exactly what we have to spend and can pay it up! Also you might get some offers on prices of venue etc as some places do offer to secure the 2015 prices for weddings in the next year or year after Xx

Hi!! I defo start looking at things that won't change between now and your wedding i.e venue, decorations. I wouldn't worry so much about things that might change between now and then i.e entertainment (who's to know if you book a band now will they still be playing together in 3 years time) dresses (we all know how much our bodies change shape over periods of time) etc. I have just paid the deposit and secured our date for our wedding in 2017 (however I was anxious to do this asap because we were fixed on our date and didn't want to miss out on something we loved because we were too slow). Just be aware that some venues won't be able to give prices/take bookings this far in advance (however this was only the case in 1 of the 6-7 venues we looked at) and registrars only take notice of marriage 12 months in advance (although I have emailed asking if we can be penciled in on our date now, will let you know what they say) plus some wedding insurance only covers things paid for within 2 years of your wedding date. But start looking around and coming up with ideas and you'll have plenty of time to plan and make your day extra special!! Good luck!!

you have so much time to relax in regards to paying off i would agree with the girls start looking around now and book deposits, last year when we where looking at our venue (aug 14) they said they had booking for 2017 already! the best thing is you can book and arrange everything now and spend time on the finer details... there will be no rush in regards to paying everything off and not fall behind because of christmas or other commitments you may have. Best thing we did was decide to have it nearly two years later! Happy planning chick you will enjoy it :)

I would definitely book asap, when we visited our reception venue a few weeks back they told us they were fully booked for 2016 & only had 1 date left for 2017.

Yeah don't get me wrong, you will have your days where you will feel stressed and you will see how many different options there are out there, there are so many things you can choose from to make your day special to you! Try not to over think because that's where the stress factor will come in :) Here if you need anything :) x

Good luck with the planning Lisa :) we booked our venue 2 years in advance and they still had every single Saturday free in June, which is obviously one of the more popular months. It really depends on the venue as to how far in advance they get booked up, but I would definitely start considering booking one soon xx

I agree with Flossie depends on the venue and whether you want summer or a certain date. We were quite easy just wanted it to be September or beginning of October . I think if you know you looking for quite a grand place that is super popular and well known then start looking within the next 6 months. But that's all I would do, I wouldn't start planning anything else until 14/12months in advance so not driving you , your OH and family n friends mad talking about weddings for 2 years...haha . I couldn't do it for 2 years, I wouldn't want "weddings" on my mind for that long.. my hat is off to people who want to plan for that long, would drive me mad !! started planning 13months in advance, within first month got all the big things booked then its just the rest to do. A year is plenty of time and I have a toddler and my own business to run and planning wedding on my own. Good luck, exciting times, wedding planning is fab :) x

The earlier the better. When we decided on our original date, we could not get what we wanted with the registrar and venue, hence why it was a few weeks later and that was quite a way in advance.

I have just heard back from the registrar and you can book this far in advanced (for a £50 non returnable deposit) so once you get your venue booked I would get your registrar booked (unless your going for a church wedding which I'm assuming is also bookable this far in advance). Once you have those main aspects of your day booked sit back relax and take your time planning!!
I have now paid a deposit and booked my venue and registrar for our wedding in Dec 2017 and feeling good, my MOH and I plan on getting together most Sunday evenings (as both our partners are out playing pool) to do wedding type stuff e.g making invites, decorations, but as we have plenty of time we can enjoy this time with no pressure! I can't wait to get started!

The registrar depends on the council/area. Ours allowed us to book 2 years in advance but some councils won't let you until 12 months before x

Definitely start looking as soon as you can! We got engaged in January this year and planning to get married in summer 2016 so we thought we had plenty of time to look at venues etc.. turns out that most of the venues we liked were already pretty much booked for every Saturday between May and September 2016 (!!).. so we had to be very flexible on dates. (I should probably add that we're specifically looking for a barn conversion so there may be other types of venues such as hall/hotels which aren't getting booked up so quickly). However to make sure you get the venue you both love and enjoy the search, I'd say start now or as soon as you can!

    Good luck!

tbh we got engageed june 14 and set oct 15 as our date, but even now 7mths before we've only got church/venue/my dress/photographer/video/sweet cart booked lol

We're so out of order and probably behind. but I was planning my ideas since last june, so i guess, the more research you are able to do the better idea you'll have, there is no really timeframe - its as busy and as chaotic as you make it

    Welcome LisaA26,
As everyone says I'd start looking at the main things sooner rather than later. We booked our venue in Mar 14 for a July 16 wedding. We also put deposits down for a lot of the bigger things as we didn't want to miss out on exactly what we wanted. It was fun looking at the venues and I am a sucker for a wedding fayre :-)
    Good luck with the planning.x

I'd look into booking it as soon as possible :) as once its booked you can look at sorting other things out. Speak to the church as they all allow different times before you can book them x
