    Hi ladies;
    I won a competition to have an award winning musician play at our wedding. We can either have him play during the ceremony or drinks reception but not sure which to go with so if people could suggest which will be best then it would be much appreciated :)

    I think maybe the drinks reception personally, people won't take so much notice in the ceremony as they will be concentrating on you getting married. That's my thoughts though

    Congratulations on winning! I voted for drinks reception and agree with glitterfairy's comment. I think you and your guests would probably be able to appreciate it more after the ceremony xxx

    It depends on your plans for the ceremony. You could use him during the signing of the register, but I'm not sure piano is enough for the walk in and walk out. I'd probably say drinks reception.

    That's a tough one! I ended up voting for the drinks reception as, while live music for the ceremony was pretty close to the top of my list of priorities, ultimately they only played 5 songs during the actual ceremony (bridesmaid's entrance; my entrance; 2 while signing the register; walking out), so in terms of 'value for money' the drinks reception is probably a better bet (plus we found it really added to the atmosphere (we had a string trio BTW)).

    Do you have his contact details? Just wondering if you could email him directly and say how excited you are to have him there, and that you'll get back to him asap about when you'd like him to play as at the moment you're really torn, and you never know, he might agree to stay a little longer depending on your timings (as he's probably not going to have another afternoon booking). I don't know, I guess it's worth a shot; just don't ask outright as that would be cheeky lol

    For some reason it's not letting me vote but I agree with the other comments and go with drinks reception.

    I went for drinks reception too. Would be a lovely touch if you had him play during photos so guests don't get bored, don't know if that's an option?

    Ok so I originally voted for ceremony but after reading other people's comments I'd change my vote to the drinks reception as what they all said made sense lol!

    Defo the drinks reception, he'll play for longer and people won't be bothered about a piano playing at the ceremony.
