Personally I would pick wedding venues for more reasons then just the photo opportunities. What else do you want your venue to have? Do you want it to have attached accommodation for guest that stay overnight? Do you need a venue to accommodate a large or small group of guests? The list can go on and on. It's hard to offer advice on just the photographic opportunities.

Just bumped a thread called: "Questions to ask your Venue OFFICIAL THREAD" I hope it's helpful for you. It lists a lot of different questions for venues and it might spark some ideas about what you want in your venue which should help your search.
Good Luck :)

You could always to a cherish the dress shoot after the big day with you and the groom dressed up in your wedding attire...then you could have the city venue and still have country pics xx

Why don't you have somewhere on the edge of the city and so you've got the best of both worlds. What city are you based in? There often little pockets of green within the city so you can get somewhere lovely but that is close to town. I'm live in East London and Valentines Park , with Valentines Mansion is right by me, i'd have love to get married there it has beautiful grounds but was just too small for us.
I'm sure if you spend some time researching you'll find some where that meets both your needs. xx
