I would be thinking about what was wrong with the places you have seen..?
Once you know what the main issue(s) are/is you can address it/them by avoiding seeing other flats that have that issue.
Also..remember compromise needs to be pulled out of the bag sometimes..you will very rarely find something that is 100% perfect.

theres no secret really to finding a place to live, only looking....
my h2b used to be an estate agent and he wud show people hundreds of places be4 the saw sumthing they loved but others wud see 1 and get that 1.... it just depends really :)

Round my way (20 mins by train to the centre) £800 would get you atwo bed flat within walking distance of train.

Have you had a look on Gumtree London for one bedroomed flats, if not might be an idea to have a look as there may be a wee gem in amongst the flats for rent there. x

No idea of the quality- but I just the area (Bromley) and £800 in to an estate agents website and came up with loads of hits. Obviously 20mins is the fast trains, not the stopping ones.

I used to live in Borough, but looked at a few in elephant and castle during that search (virtually the same place!) We found that E and C actually isn't that cheap compared just because it is soo central and close to so much transport. Perhaps round oval/stockwell?
