I thought I would start a planning diary so that I can see everything coming together & to also see what still needs doing.

I will start with a little bit of background info, I met my H2B at work 12 years ago & fell head over heels straight away :)
We have a 10 year old son together & H2B has 2 children from a previous relationship (that live with us), one is almost 13 & the other is 16.
We have been engaged for forever (8 years) so about time we got this wedding under way!!
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

So we have set our wedding date for the 8th August 2015 & have booked the church for a 4pm ceremony. We decided straight away that we didn't want separate day/evening guests so decided on a later wedding, meaning we only need to provide 1 meal & can afford to invite everyone.
We have also booked our reception venue, we have exclusive use from fri-sun so plenty of time to set up & tidy up. Our venue has stunning grounds so I will be praying for good weather, so that we get lots of photos.
    Front view
    Front view
    Back of venue from garden
    Back of venue from garden
    Beautiful walkways
    Beautiful walkways
    Very end of garden
    Very end of garden

We have purchased our centrepieces, they cost £20.30 each which I thought was a bargain & sell very we'll second hand, so we can hopefully recoup some money from them.
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

I have made diy pocketfold invitations, I still need to make the inserts but I have plenty of time for that.
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

The little birds have mint & peach wings which are our wedding colours :)

So that's everything so far, we are going to a local wedding fair in early march. The cars that we love will be there so if we like them as much in the flesh as in the pictures then we will be booking them.
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

I have also emailed a few photographers & am awaiting their replies.

Our target that we hope to achieve by the end of March is to have the church paid in full (have enough for this but need to get payment details), book the transport, photographer & pay at least £300 off of our venue.

Thankyou, I love our venue to, h2b just wanted a village hall (nothing against them but our local one is vile) & has said a few times that were paying an extra £1500 for the garden but I think it was worth it.

We have booked our dj today, h2b is an ex dj so is very fussy, he has asked a good dj friend if he'd do it & he said he would be honoured.
I still haven't heard back from any of the photographers I emailed, which doesn't look good on them, hopefully its just because there busy at the moment.

We have now booked our wedding cars 2 vintage Rolls Royce's at a cost of £730, quite expensive but we love them.
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

We have also taken out wedding insurance & booked a photobooth at a wedding fair.
It's scary how quick everything adds up, I think I'll leave my purse at home at future wedding fairs so that I don't make any unplanned purchases again.

I love your cars, well worth the extra expense :)

Haha only problem with leaving your purse at home is you can still make purchases-I booked a violinist from seeing her at a wedding fair, I actually walked past her, she sounded amazing but I just didn't see where she would fit in, my mum asked where you would have her and my partner said probably at the Church, so we picked up a leaflet just to check the ''stupidly high prices'' as we were walking around looking at it we realised she has such a huge repertoire that includes movie themes and rock songs... and can play at wedding breakfasts.... the rest is history lol

Would you believe our venue is actually a school!! A private school with very high fees lol.
It didn't come up on g00gle when I was searching for venues, I came across it when looking at photographers. He had shot a wedding reception there & the pictures were stunning, I would love to book him as his pictures were so creative but his cheapest package is £1800!! So not going to happen.

I agree the cars are stunning & worth every penny, I wanted to book asap as the company has just won 2 awards (regional winner & national winner) at the 2014 wedding industry awards so I imagine there prices will rise. Can't believe that a few months ago when we were working out a budget, we put cars as least important & would spend as little as possible on them, until we saw these :)

It's really funny how your priorities change, but I do think sometimes you don't know what you want until you've done some planning.

Wow that's amazing about the venue.... imagine going to that school, some very lucky kids, I wonder if they appreciate how beautiful it is

It's all looking amazing. We spent less on the cars as neither of us are particularly into cars, and £400 for a ten-minute drive seemed excessive, but I love the ones you've gone for.

We'll our target for March was to book transport, photographer & pay £300 off of our venue. We have done 2 of those now, so just need to book a photographer, which is proving quite hard (lots of research involved).

    Booked so far:
Church @ £744 (paid £40 deposit) will increase slightly when 2015 prices are released
    Reception venue @ £1900 (paid £500)
Cars @ £730 (paid £250) could go up by £50 if we want collecting in the evening
    Photobooth @ £449 (paid £100)
Dj @ ?? haven't set price yet but will be mates rates (will pay on the night)
Centrepieces @ £270 (paid in full)
    Food & cake, dad's paying
Invites & save the dates @ £70? (Paid in full)
Insurance @ £37 (paid in full)

    Still to do:
    Photographer
    Florist
    Suits
    My dress, shoes, etc
    Bridesmaids dresses & shoes
    Hair & makeup
    Chair & table covers
    Rings
Sweet buffet (love the carousel wheel ones)
    Hotel for wedding night
    Honeymoon
I'm sure this list will get longer & longer........

After months of searching we have finally found a photographer & have paid her in full, this has proved to be the hardest choice so far!!
I'm going to ring my local mori lee stockist tomorrow & hopefully book an appointment for next saturday, I'm absolutely dreading dress shopping.
Also had lots of hair & make up quotes, so far most have come in around £300 for myself, 2 adults & 2 child bridesmaids which is what I have budgeted for.

    Updated booked/paid so far:
Church @ £744 (paid £40 deposit) will increase slightly when 2015 prices are released
Reception venue @ £1900 (paid in full)
Cars @ £730 plus £50 for evening collection (paid in full)
    Photobooth @ £449 (paid £100)
Dj @ ?? haven't set price yet but will be mates rates (will pay on the night)
Centrepieces @ £270 (paid in full)

Invites & save the dates @ £70? (Paid in full)
Insurance @ £37 (paid in full)
Photographer @ £600 (paid in full)
Florist @ £299 (paid in full)
    Chair & table covers @ £365.95 (paid £162)
Have enough to purchase our wedding rings too, just need to go to the shop & buy them.

Don't worry about the weight, you've got plenty of time. Slow and steady is the best way. Don't be tempted to order your dress a size below where you are now, it's really easy for a seamstress to take it in, and it takes the pressure off you if you order for where you are now. Just try on as many dresses as you have time for, to get an idea of what you like. Enjoy yourself. x

We have now ordered the bridesmaid dresses & are awaiting there arrival, this is what we went with:
    dress.JPG
    dress.JPG

H2B, best man & 2 of the groomsmen got there suits today, we went way over budget but at least they get to wear them again.
    suit.jpg
    suit.jpg

We are going back tomorrow to purchase H2B's dad, my dad & the last groomsman's suit. The shop (M0ss) also said to ignore the return policy, we can exchange sizes whenever if need be (they've made a note on our receipt) as we're worried about the suits fitting nearer the wedding. Mainly H2B's eldest son as he's joining the army so we imagine he will bulk up, also one of the groomsmen is living in Tenerife at the moment so won't be around to try his suit on.

I've been emailing lots of companies to get quotes for our favours, I found a really cheap company last year & they told me to book this year so emailed them back & they haven't replied!! They were £1.20 each the next cheapest quote so far has been £2 each, so quite a difference.
These are the favours we want, lovebird biscuits:
    lovebird.jpg
    lovebird.jpg

I also need to chase up the hair/make up lady I had a quote from last year to check she is still available, if she is I shall book my trial in :)

Well.... hopefully the cheaper company will reply, if not it will probably still be a good thing that you didn't book with them, as they may have gone bust. Imagine if you'd paid a deposit and then they weren't replying.

I know I would be gutted, I'm wondering if they've realized the quote was to cheap as most places are around the £3 mark.
I need to chase up the photobooth at some point to check there still around, I booked them at a wedding fair & paid £100 deposit. We have insurance so can claim for that if they have disappeared.

Yes we bought all of them, we looked into hiring & they wanted £100 each. To buy they have come to about £170 each (suit, waistcoat, shirt, tie, pocket square), were not bothering with thank you gifts now though as we've spent far to much on them.

I wanted to hire suits from f0rm@lly y0urs as there only £69 for everything, but H2B was adamant that he wanted to buy the suits, he said he didn't want everyone in suits that hundreds of men had worn before them....such a snob!!

It's nice that they can keep them and wear them again. If we could fit it in the budget then we would do that. H2B said he may buy his suit but hire the rest. Then at least he's got something to keep like I'll have my dress.

I think I might have found my dress!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously the corset & belt ribbon should have been tucked in, so when it's properly fitted you wont see that.

Best of all, my mum offered to pay for it The shop was an hour away though so I'm going to ring our local shop to see if they have it or can order it.
