Well I thought I'd join you all in doing a diary/blog post on our wedding progress so far so here goes!!

We have booked our venue for 15th August 2015 so we now have a date eek but we are very excited as you can tell! Our colour scheme is sapphire/royal blue and silver with butterflies, music and vintage style as our theme.

For the music, we won't have a problem as we are both studying music at uni and we are also church musicians so we have loads of friends who can contribute - I know will be putting together a really good choir for the church and they will be singing (with us of course!) some amazing pieces, got some great organ music in the pipeline... Sorry for the pun, so we really won't be short of ideas there!!

Debbie has bought her dress - It's a Sinc3rty one and makes her look absolutely stunning! Can't wait to get that one off on the wedding night ;) a beautiful satin vintage inspired dress with a sweetheart neckline and a lace bolero although we need to source that at some point!

For our wedding cake, I am making it, I may be mad... Well I know I'm mad but that's beside the point hehe!! Anyhoo, digressing a little, I'm making it and what I'm planning is making a 3 tier wedding cake with pillars iced with white icing and then put some blue ribbon around each cake then put lots of blue swirls all over it! I'll attach a picture for you all :) The cake isn't going to be fruit cake as we both hate fruit cake and we don't see the point in having a cake neither of us will eat so it's going to be sponge.... I'm thinking we'll have a lemon drizzle, a normal sponge and a carrot one but as we are two girlies I might incorporate the LGBT colours and have multi-coloured layers inside as a surprise to all the guests!!

    blue swirls2_shockleys sweet shoppe.jpg

We've got our bridesmaids and best man sorted - 1 bestman/MOH, 6 BM's and 2 PB's so between us that's only 3 each which seems ok to us :)

The seating plan is in progress although it will change a little before the big day I'm sure LOL.

Reception - Country Inn close to my parents house.

Cars - We are hoping to get a couple of Austin's or Rolls local to us to take us to and from the church/venue - We get them for the whole day and not charged by the hour which is fabulous so all we need to do is go and have a look at them and we have our cars!
    Austin's.jpg
    Austin's.jpg

Flowers - We both love flowers and always have done. Initially, we thought we'd make our bouquets but we have now decided that as we have a little extra money to play with, we will have real flowers but the bridesmaids etc will have artificial flowers made by us :D I'll attach the bouquet I would love!
    cream-old-english-roses-david-austin-rose-wedding-bouquet.jpg
    cream-old-english-roses-david-austin-rose-wedding-bouquet.jpg

For our honeymoon, we are more limited than the rest of you but as I used to live in France and Debbie also loves it there, I am going to surprise her with lots of amazing places I visited as a child and we will tour France. Hopefully we will finish off with a bang at Disneyland Paris for a few days staying in one of their luxury hotels - I honestly can't wait for this!! It will be a dream holiday for the both of us

Hair/make-up - No flipping idea at all, I am useless at all of that!!!

Entertainment wise, we hope to get my Dad's fantastic swing band to play while we are eating and arrange a ceildilh band for the evening - Lots of mad Scottish barn dancing, everyone getting up having a good time and enjoying themselves hopefully!

Anyhoo.... That's enough for now I think. Hopefully I haven't missed anything out but watch this space and will be updating as we get closer. Bookmark if you want or just follow all our fun and games!! Much love to all you happy brides :D xxx

Thanks honey!! Well it's actually Debbie's family who's from Scotland not me - Her family are all from Northumberland or Scotland so a lot of ties there.. Her Granddad came from Glasgow along with all his family :) we only found the cake design last night on Google but it's exactly what we are thinking! How's your planning coming along? xx

Wow you're doing so well. I considered a ceilidh as I'm from Northumberland and my H2B spent a lot of his childhood there, but we figured a lot of our guests wouldn't be up for it, and the Welsh dances are different to the ones that I grew up doing.

Fair enough, better to do something you and your guests will enjoy :) we figured that as Debbie's heritage is Scottish, it's a nod to that but also in my family, we tend to get ceilidh's for family events of which the latest was my cousin's wedding in August just gone.. I was dreading it a little as I can't dance but actually it was fantastic! We love DJ's because whether you were 80 or 8, everybody gets up and dancing, having a great time and involved! Obviously everyone has their own personal opinion though, many love DJ's etc but that's not for us :) xx

So, been going round a lot of wedding dress shops recently and have now decided that I definitely don't want the black detailing dress because in the flesh it's actually burgundy, no offence to any others that have that as their colour scheme but I don't really like that and wasn't that nice when we saw it BUT..... Debbie has decided on her dress AH!! It's the Felicity by D1ane Harbr1dge and she looks truly stunning in it :) could see her walking down the aisle towards me in it and apparently my face said it all when I saw her!

It's very simple but very her - Quite 50's, vintage-esque, full satin skirt, train, sweetheart neckline and a little bit of sparkle! We are going to go back over the next few weeks to check and try others but when her Mum comes to visit next month, we are hoping to put a deposit down on it!! :D xx

Haha, I did think of that - Getting barn owls but I saw that article a few weeks ago about the woman who got the owl to be a ring bearer and instead of flying up to the vicar it flew into the rafters and didn't come down for an hour so I'm a little wary although it would be soooo cool!!!

We were chatting last night and what we are thinking is have the church as a elegant grotto so things like ivy around the pillars, flowers everywhere, candles, blue and silver decor, After the ceremony, we are going outside fingers crossed to have Debbie's part (both of us, but it's her baby the tea party) - champers in tea cups, scones with cream and jam, bunting .. The whole package! Then when we go to the hall, we'll have a diagon alley type entrance that we've found - Basically a massive homemade curtain made to look like a wall at the entrance and when you go through it, you walk into this amazing, magical, beautiful great hall.... 4 long tables, banners, HP decor, candy cart with honeydukes sweets, goblets, Dumbledore chairs, Weasley wheezes fireworks afterwards and so many other things...... I'M SO FRIGGING EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loooooove Harry Potter :D :D :D xx

Haha, so right! Like for the candles, we are decorating old jam jars and getting little tea lights from £land for example.. And for our door, we are going to use an old sheet and just mix some old paints we have then sponge on the pattern. It's so easily done and looks just as nice plus, we prefer the personal touch rather than getting everything made. We like to think that there is a couple behind the wedding and that it's not just a wedding planner who's organized it if you get my drift! xx

Thanks honey!! I just got soooooo excited though, for interests sake we thought we would see if they do weddings and they do WEDDING RECEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then got very depressed because for 120 guests to have a wedding reception in the great hall which is the minimum amount of guests they allow, you have to pay £39,000!!!!!! Shame, but there's no way we would ever be able to afford that.. A DIY budget wedding of £8,000 is us sadly LOL. We've been to the studios (our first date incidentially) and it was just incredible, we were like school kids bouncing around the house for the week before haha!! We love HP, suffice to say! xx

So after trying to get hold of my dress maker for the last 3 weeks, I've finally given up on receiving ANY correspondence from her at all. I met her on 21st Sept and went through designs and she said next weekend at the latest, I will send some designs through. . I gave her longer as I didn't want to sound pushy and eventually, after I sent a couple of emails, I finally got back an email saying 'my server is down', I've heard nothing! Before when I tried to get an appointment, she used this excuse too so I think it's the same excuse she uses everytime. I know that my wedding is 2.5 years away but still, doesn't mean I have to be ignored plus the kick in the teeth is that, there are other people that have emailed and met up and she's got back to them straight away so what's she got against us?? I've given up and decided that I will try and find something off the peg at a later date as the stress of worrying about it is not going to help in the run up - Plus, it's been weighing on my mind about what if I don't like what she's done and I have to buy it hating my dress, sometimes a one of a kind thing has negatives ......

Been chatting with the B2B, and for our tea party bit of the wedding, we are going to go through all our local charity shops and car boots etc to find lots of old vintage tea cups for it.. We are going to do champers in tea cups!!

Update: Well I've finally heard back from the dressmaker as she had the cheek to email me asking what I thought of the designs she'd supposedly hadn't, to which I replied 'nope, it's been 6 weeks and I still haven't heard without explanation despite sending several emails to find out what's going on'..... She apologized and finally sent the designs which quite frankly, I could have drawn up myself... They literally looked like she had scribbled something together in 2 minutes flat and sent them to me so I didn't get arsy!!! I have said we'll get back to her but after all this, I've already decided that there's no way I'm trusting her something as important with my wedding dress so after looking in a few wedding dress shops, I'm probably going to get one from a bridal store. Although it's more expensive, at least I will have the peace of mind that I will actually have something to wear on the day!!

Also, as some of you know, the wifey and I are debating on the pro's and con's of a Caribbean vs. France honeymoon the other day... We couldn't decide so we've decided to go to both but what she doesn't know is that I'm planning a surprise vow renewal at the end of our honeymoon in the south west of France!!!

We'd love to get married out in France, but we've resigned ourselves to the fact that it just isn't practical sadly :(

£39000 is ludicrous, but then I suppose they can charge that as some people will be willing to pay it just because of where it is. Maybe you could visit some of the other locations, particularly with your W2B having family in Northumberland. I know both Durham Cathedral and Alnwick Castle were used, although I'm not sure which bits of which location. It's years since I last went to Durham Cathedral and I only ever went to the great hall in Alnwick Castle, as my parents hosted visiting students from America when I was a small child and that was where we were introduced to them.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
