Well a week and a bit after the big day Im back to leave the low down. Seems like it was so long ago already, time has flown by.
Sooooooooo we were all set to have a registry office wedding with a reception in the local village hall with disco buffet and the usual reception bits and bobs, however after a quite a few guests unable to attend for various reasons - some more understandable than others - we decide to change our plans.
Instead of the reception we had in place we booked a pub restaurant for a meal for all the guests able to attend and then headed all back home for a house party. The decorations we had planned for the hall were adapted and used to decorate the house and all the drinks we were laying on for the village hall was laid out in our kitchen.
The weather the day before (Thursday 17th) was so gloomy I was really concerned that we would have a rubbish day on the Friday. On the morning of the big day the sun shone so I stopped worrying about the weather and moved on to worrying about the getting ready. lol
Hair and makeup came on time and we set up in the lounge with the guys doing their thing in the rest of the house. Felt so weird knowing he was beyond the door but the next time I saw him would be at the registry office saying our vows.
Time flew and before we knew it the ladies were on their way and we were getting into our dresses. My stepdaughter did an amazing job lacing my dress, despite having had a cast on for the two weeks previous to the wedding after breaking a bone in her hand.
The mens car came to collect them and thats when nerves really hit me. Luckily we didnt have long to wait as the registry office is really local so after a quick drink we were able to get into our car and head off.
Driving up to the house where the registry office is felt like we were someone famous. Everyone outside snapping photos of the car . The staff then came and asked everyone inside to take their seats and then after a few photos of us exiting the car we were ready to go in too.
Both of us managed our words without tears although we were both close and the ceremony seemed to be over in a flash. The photographer did some lovely shots inside and then it was all out into the gardens for more photos in the glorious sunshine.
After the photos were all taken we all headed to the restaurant where we had a section to ourselves with our napkins and favours all laid out. Everyone had a good meal - including us two despite us thinking we wouldnt be able to manage a meal.
Following that we were all minibused back home to continue the celebration with more drink , nibbles and karaoke via the xbox. lol
The last guests left at around 1.30am and we've been told everyone had a brilliant time.
The moral of our day I would say is that if things dont stick to your plans it shouldnt be the end of the world and you can still have an amazing day which means just as much if not more with fewer good friends and family rather than lots of people you cant always appreciate the company of on the day.
We really couldnt of asked for a better day. We both said if we could do it again we wouldnt change anything, oh except maybe make a bit less food and get a little less drink as we had loads left over!
I've put a few photos in an album (if a power user could add them here I'd appreciate it) - we are still waiting on our photographers but we have a few nice ones our guests snapped.
