Having a bit of family trouble at the moment :( don't want to post about it too much on here. But due to fallings out (nothing to do with us) one of our ushers may or may not be coming to the wedding. I'm hoping it will all blow over before the wedding... as we would love everyone to be there (and don't know what to do about gifts at the moment as well as we were buying them all these next few months)

Just realised how close Easter is, really hoping I can loose half a stone before then as that was my plan :/

Won't be on the diet wagon properly until Monday as have stuff on this week, but still. If I don't lose that half a stone by Easter, after Easter it's going to have to be extreme measures I think (slimf@st or cereal diet)

    On better notes though

We have a tasting session on the 10th April with our venue, can't wait

But we need to decide on which two dishes from each course we are going to try :/

we had three short listed for starters and mains, so need to cut one off and also decide which extra pudding to try...

They all sound good Donna, but I voted for the duck risotto balls and the Camembert (in my head salad is salad so wouldn't bother with it at a taster lol) the lamb and the chicken with pancetta and mozzarella, that way you're trying a summery type option and also a more fillingy type main and then the berry mess so your trying a warm and a cold dessert (does any of that make sense lol) xx

Yeah, that all makes sense Debbie, thanks for adding your opinion and taking the time to vote :)

I'm thinking along the same lines. Oh is worried that if for our actual wedding breakfast we chose the Camembert then the mozzarella dish may be too much cheese after... personally I don't think that will be the case, but we'll see when we try it to be fair.

He didn't want to try two chicken dishes at the taster, so I think we def will go for the lamb to taste and one of the chickens... I just don't think we'll go for the lamb on the day as we said we didn't want traditional roast dinner sort of meal.

Also thinking similar to you on the puddings.

It seems everyone is thinking a summery pudding for our second option...

I honestly think the mess would be a good option on the day as we get married in August so it may be hot, but we both love sticky toffee pudding and fiancé is pretty much sold on that. Will be interesting to see if the mess is really good at the taster it may sway him.

Yeah I'm torn between the two-so will have to see what the taste test does... it will probably just confuse things even more as I'll think they're both lovely lol.

Trying to convince fiancé we should try the lamb rump instead of shank as I think what it comes with sounds nicer, but he's looking at the price tag, thing is the rump only costs as much as the chicken so it's not like we'd be spending anymore than what we would if we went for that.

Starter: I went for the ceasar salad with duck risotto balls
Main: Chicken wrapped in bacon stuffed with sausage and leek/braised lamb shank
    Dessert: Warm chocolate brownie

I read it wrong and thought it was the menu you were choosing not for the taster lol (Got a sore head)

I like the sound of the salad and its light enough to start a 3 course meal.
Main I get headaches/migraines if i eat cheese as much as I love it it doesnt love me. I like the idea of lamb shank but not everyone is a lover of lamb
Dessert I would vote sticky toffee pudding over everything

Yeah it is just one option on the day, as it costs £2 per head per dish to offer a choice, which would just add up to too much really.

We'll see how the taster goes anyway...

I think I got round to my fiance about the lamb rump last night, he said about it being more expensive and I said only as much as the chicken, he thought it was a couple of pounds more then that as well-so that won him round a little and then when I pointed out that the shank comes with mash and so does the chicken and he isn't a fan of mash whereas the rump comes up potato gratin and that the shank comes with minted pea's which again he isn't a fan of but the shank comes with vegetable crisps.

Am I right in thinking shank is normally fattier than rump?

Yes page boy is our son, although don't know if technically he is a page boy or a ring bearer as all he's wanted to do since we got engaged is to look after the rings on the day.

It's a tumbler/juice glass we have ordered him, but it's from a lady on 3t5y-I sent her some pictures of him and she is going to paint his name, role and a picture of him onto it... I've got the same for me, fiancé and my bridesmaids as well-except we have champagne glasses. A bit nervous about them now as we've spent a lot of money on them, so hope they look okay :/ They're due here end of March beginning of April I think.

Oh I like the idea of that card Elizabeth, sounds lovely.

A lot of our presents are silly things, like the smellies and the T-shirt (it's a game of thrones one, that says I went to a wedding and all I got was this bloody T-Shirt, with blood splatter over it) they're just things that we think will make people smile on the day. Like the sword letter opener is a running joke as we'd always said he would propose with a sword so we could cut the cake with it on the day and it would be our engagement sword... he never did so it's just a little joke that I've got him one instead.
Then the more serious one's are the glasses and the watch. We had no idea what to do for gifts but have ended up going with little gift bags which we will fill. Not sure whether to give them in the morning or during speeches though. (obviously things like cufflinks and jewellery we will give on the morning.)

I would give the other gifts at the speeches the only reason we arent is my mum has more than Oh's mum and dont want tomake it blatantly obvious to everyone.

Ive now bookmarked your thread so I dont miss out lol:)

I really can't wait to get mine... I ordered them on 4th Feb and she says it takes about 2 months to make and then deliver so I still have a while to wait lol.

Fiancé's parents have come round, they've gone back to their hotel now but they like the sound of what we're trying for our taster session. We're going to talk to the suit people tomorrow and just have a general look around town as well, maybe look at our centre piece ladies shop.

Had a busy busy weekend wedding wise, it's been lovely seeing my fiancé's parents as well.

Got confirmation from our musician for the ceremony. So excited about having him. I just need to confirm with him what he'll be playing for me walking down the aisle and us leaving for the order of service, or do you think ''processional tune on the English bagpipes'' will look okay?

We saw our lady who is doing the centre pieces recognised us and it was lovely talking to her, we need to take a sample of our yellow sashes so she knows what to order for different bits.

Also paid off the suits, well I say we did, my fiancé's parents did, changed the waistcoats on the suits as well, as they were silver... I had a word with my future mother in law and said how my dress was ivory and a little gold and she agreed we should change the waistcoats.

We've also made final decisions on what we're having for our taster session as well. Also serious diet starts tomorrow.... we need to get into shape, I bought a couple of dresses for honeymoon in a size 8 and 10, the 8 fits (it has a stretchy back) but the 10 doesn't, I will fit into it by the day though.

Really busy, I just can't wait for the day to get here now.

Fiancé has said about having lots of candles in the Church for the ceremony, I've told him to go for it, but he can sort it as I have enough to worry about the morning of the wedding-also he is the one who is going to be closer to the Church and also needs to get there before me anyway. I told him he might be better off getting there earlier then suggested as well, as he has to get there half an hour early... might be better off going an hour or at least 45 minutes early.

No, he just got told at least half an hour before. It is different as they don't actually have to speak to me before the wedding either, whereas the registrar does have to speak to the bride at the registry office (and I'm assuming at a venue wedding as well) my partner goes through all the paperwork beforehand to make sure it's all right. I think I will ask him to go an hour before anyway, as he'll want to sort that-then the candles before people start arriving.

My future mother in law is looking at getting us some fireworks for the day, it's not something I would have thought of myself-or if I did I would have been put of the price, but getting excited about having them now. So hopefully she will be able to book them, she has gone as far as contacting our venue to speak to them about if they would allow them, they have a preferred supplier so she has contacted them for a quote as she was looking at a different company. If she does want to go ahead we just need to double check with the band what time would be a good time to go for them, as obviously we'd like it to be while the band are having a break.

We've also decided on what we are having on the tables for people as well.

Favours are little purple boxes filled with Cadbury hero's and tied with yellow ribbon, then we're going to have little conversation stirrers on the table and advice for the bride and groom cards which can be posted into the postbox with the cards... we can decide what to do with them then, either stick them in the guest book or put them all together depending on how many we get.

Oh and of course we are going to have bubbles, can't have a wedding without bubbles on the table ;)

Actually, the more I look at them, the more I like them. Not sure what I was expecting to be honest. I am very impressed with the details on the dress

Thank you-I'm going to have to open that picture in paint and scribble all over my dress so I can show oh... as don't want him seeing anything like that which will give him a clue as to what my dress looks like

My fiancé loves them, I didn't tell him my slight concerns and he thought they looked great. When I asked him who his favourite one was he said mine as well, so he obviously doesn't think my face looks weird. I wasn't sure if my hair was too dark as well, but he said my hair is dark lol
