I need my wedding mojo back ladies and gents.

So it seems about right to make a diary here and try and stick with it.

We have got all our big things booked in now, except for flowers which I'm still on the lookout for and would like booked this Summer at the latest. Oh and my dress, but I think I know which one I'm going for.

We're getting married at our local Church at 12.30
We are then going onto the hall where we are having our reception, we have between 40 and 50 people going for the wedding breakfast (not completely sure on numbers yet and who's partners are coming, it's a massive expense and you know what families are like)
We are having purple and yellow as our colours and I'm hoping and preying it all comes together as nicely as I imagine it :)
I have two bridesmaids, who have both been amazing.
We have our cake booked and our pork pie cake ;) (well actually that's not booked as such yet, they know we want to go ahead but we need to put the deposit down)

Looking forward to booking our honeymoon this month as well hopefully, we have a list of destinations

Jamaica, Mexico and a few others, we're planning on looking at what's available with my MIL's holiday company (it's like a time share but not a time share lol) and looking at flights separately and then also seeing what a couple of package holiday companies are offering to see what will work out best for us. Bring on the 24th when flights are released. Can't come soon enough.

It all sounds lovely. I cant wait for flights to be released in a few weeks so we can price our honeymoon.

It will be as you imagine it to be x

I have an appointment Easter week to go and try my dress on again and some others as she is having a sale, my mum has asked if I can change the date.... after we agreed on the date-AGHHHH

I wouldn't mind but I feel like I've been messing this lady about a bit and I know she'll be busy as she has appointments. But if I can't change the appointment I might be going on my own to put my deposit down :(

Where are you thinking for your honeymoon

We still aren't sure, but want somewhere exotic, adult only and luxury... we did look at safari and beach holidays but for the luxury and adults only tag after the safari the price just shot right up :/ and we talked about it and decided we would consider doing it with the children when they're older (we already have one little boy and plan on having one or two more) we said we would either wait until they were all older or take the older one once the younger one's were old enough for someone to watch them and then take the younger one's another year when he was older and didn't want to go on holiday with us.

I'd possibly still look at going on the safari holiday once prices are realised but think it's out of our price range

Id love to go to St Lucia its been my dream honeymoon destination since I was like 15 lol. The problem we have is do we take Connor or not Between my mum and sister they said we could go away for 10 night.

I wouldn't change the appointment not if there is a chance you get a discount. why does your mum want to change.

There is no harm in looking at the holidays once they have been released, Im going to have a look and see what we can afford as we want to go to Florida the May after we get married but we cant afford to do that plus a big honeymoon

I'd love St Lucia as well, but not sure what companies do it.... :/

Def not changing the appointment, she's told my Auntie she'll help out in her office and apparently that's one of the days she really needs her. She's going to see if she can just take a break to come to the dress shop with me as she really wants to see me in my dress again.

We're not taking our little one as my mum is having him. He'll be 7 when we get married and although I'll really miss him, we want to take advantage of someone offering to have him so we can enjoy the adults only thing, as after the wedding we plan on trying for baby number 2, so it will be a good 10 - 18 years until we can have a adults holiday again

Fiancé is being miserable food wise now

We are having fresh bread, cold meats, cheeses with salads and pickles as our buffet
We have also booked a pork pie wedding cake to compliment it.

Then for puddings we have our cake, which will be three different flavours plus a fruit cake to cut and we are also having a candy cart.

I always said I didn't want a chocolate fountain, but I keep seeing them and thinking oooo a white chocolate one would be nice.... he keeps saying if we won one it would be great, but we're not paying for one.... I also want personalised m&m's which I think would look great on our candy cart.... but he doesn't see the point.... miserable so and so :p lol

I'm trying to think what else we need to sort

    We've booked

    Church
    Reception (which includes food)
    Transport
    Centre pieces
Bridesmaid is sorting our chair covers and top table
    Candy cart
    Suit hire
    My veil
    The band
    Violinist for wedding breakfast
I'm borrowing one of my bridesmaids jewellery

    Need to sort

    My dress
    Flowers
    Bridesmaid dresses
    Shoes for me and bridesmaids
    Favours
    Invitations (making our own)
Gifts for everyone (sorted some little bit's but nothing major)
    Honeymoon

    Have I got everything there?

Ahh yes, I think my hair and make-up is booked.... but I haven't paid a deposit, she did put it in her diary.

Accomodation is included in our package and our photographer is also booked :)

The cheese cakes can look great :) but as cheese is already on our buffet and we have the pork pie one, I'm going to avoid talking to anyone who offers them as you can guarantee someone will talk us round lol.

I think the buffet sounds really nice. It's not what I would have imagined having but when we saw it offered we thought it was def the best one for us.

Our sit down meal is looking something like this

    Starter - red pepper risotto
Main - parmesan pork (or butternut squash tagine for veggies)
Pudding - Sticky toffee pudding with posh ice-cream (can't remember the flavour)
    Coffee and mints.

Thanks, glad you think it looks like a good menu, we want something that we are really going to enjoy but that is going to also please everybody-which can be a nightmare. We were really glad when we liked a veggie starter actually as it means we only needed to pick out a vegetarian alternative for the main haha.

Yeah might see how that goes, it's not something we urgently need booking now to make sure we get it, as there are loads available and worse case if we can't get one it's not the end of the world.

The candy cart we have booked is more important as it looks stunning (and shouldn't make a mess lol)

I think we've made a decision on the honeymoon.... well will have done once the flights are released tomorrow.

Thinking Mexico as we have seen a stunning hotel which is ADULTS ONLY, 24 hour gourmet all inclusive, jacuzzi baths in all rooms.... the list goes on and on as to why this is a great hotel. It's very reasonably priced as well.... well as long as prices don't shoot up from this years prices anyway.

Our other options were, west coast America and doing a couple of places.... but that wouldn't have the luxury side of it and also not the adults only tag either and when we're not taking our son and we both work in schools the last thing we want on our honeymoon is to be around other people's children (sorry if that sounds awful but it's true)

Another option which we love, is going to Africa and doing a part safari, part beach holiday.... but again we're either looking at paying a lot more for the luxury and adults only tag or paying a bit less and then not having exactly what we want. We have said we could take our son on safari another year anyway when he's a little older.

So I think it will be Mexico, something we can def afford and which we can ask for money towards... then any money we get will go towards experiences while we're away and towards the actual holiday-that way if we end up spending less from our own budget we can take our little one somewhere great the following year... or possibly even to lapland the Christmas after the wedding.

Fiancé is being a pain on Mexico again.... but I'm sure I'll twist his arm, I think he loves the hotel and everything but for some reason has decided he's concerned about the price... I have no idea why as we had budgeted that much for the honeymoon.... men! It's a pain though as I just want to get it booked now so I can really get excited about it.

Does the agency know it's your honeymoon? They might knock the price down or throw in a freebie, maybe that will persuade him.

Narrowed it down to Mexico or Dominican Republic now... I'm still swayed by Mexico as it has more restaurants and bars which I think we would enjoy, although the Dominican looks stunning as well, I'd be happy with both.

We haven't told them yet, we're looking online, we have said we might go into the store but when we were booking our holiday last year they told us that when you go in store to book they just charge you the internet price but with a fee on top.... I can't remember how much it was, don't think it was much, maybe £10 a head.... I'll see if he remembers. I doubt we'll get anything major but reading reviews some people have said they leave nice touches for honeymoon's such as a bottle of champers in the room for when you arrive.

Off to work now, but over the next few days I'm going to go through all our receipts and contracts and write in next years diary when everything's due to be paid off. As it makes sense a couple of months before the wedding to just move all the money that's due at once.... as once you take money out of our savings account you don't get the interest for that month anyway, so it might as well all come out together.

I'm hoping it's not as big a job as I think it's going to be.

I've been very organised and made sure we have a spread sheet of what's been paid and what needs to be paid, but it's more the actual dates of when payments are due I need to organise a little better now.....

Thinking about what I still need to organise and I think this is my list

    1-Bridesmaid dresses
    2-Bridesmaid shoes and other accessories
    3-My shoes
    4-Fiancé and sons shoes
    5-Flowers
    6-Favours
    7-Place settings
    8-Invitations
    9-Thank you gifts

I think that is all, although there's probably something I have forgotten as that's just off the top of my head, most of those things need to be sorted closer to the time.... that makes me feel a little sad

Fiance wound me up about invites last night, he decided we would make the invites, which at first I was unsure about. But I thought about it and agreed as they'll end up being a lot cheaper and it might be something fun to do together. Anyway, last night I asked if we should start playing about so we at least have an idea of what we want ect.

He just completely shot me down and said no, he has no idea what he wants to do on them, but we have 11 months until we need to send them so what's the point of thinking about them yet..... I asked when he thinks we should think about them and he just said, I don't know.

I can see us ending up having no invites (I know that sounds a bit extreme, but I know what he's like and it will be put off and put off) Grrr MEN!!!

So often people don't get the importance of doing things early. People don't realise the time it takes to go back and forth deciding on ideas, and the actual making is so time consuming. Are you doing save the dates? If not I would send them earlier than eleven months from now, as people will be booking up summer holidays in January. Maybe start coming up with some ideas by yourself. He might respond if he sees something concrete.

I think most people know the date anyway, but yeah we need to get the rest out anyway. I'm thinking of sending them earlier now anyway, not that much earlier, but I was giving myself a week to chase R.S.V.P's and I think I need more.

Not sure what to do about evening invites... as my venue want's numbers by 2 months before and I wonder if that's a bit too soon to expect def answers for just the evening guests? Should I just guess my numbers? (they say we only have to pay for 90% anyway.

Thinking of things we can do to help get MIL to feel more involved :/

She lives 4 hours away so we don't see much of her and we've spoken to her today and I think they're feeling a bit out of it. They weren't being funny, but we just got the impression. The problem is wedding planning has been a bit quiet anyway as we've sorted most of the big things anyway, so most things need to wait until nearer the time, but I think she thinks we're up here doing loads of planning with my family...

We've said next time they come up here we will go visit the venue for a meal so she can see that and that we'll go through the wedding file.... but can't think what else we can do at this point in the planning stage :/

On another note, I think we've made a decision on the invites now... not a full on decision as we don't have to do that just yet, but at least we now have an idea of what we want to do :) will make the proper decision early next year closer to when they need to be sent out. We're looking at just using a template from the internet and sticking it to card to send... we don't see the point in blowing loads of money on fancy invites... as nice as they look and I've been very tempted by some... it just seems silly and we have to cut our budget somewhere

Well thanks to Katya on here we now have a wedding website to play about (very early stages in playing about with it mind) with and I've also been playing around with my own invite on publisher, my fiancé says he prefers my invite to the templates we found online as well.

It's very simple, I just got two pictures of a yellow rose (well two different roses) one has been placed in a top corner, the other in a bottom corner with purple wording :) (shame they don't have to be sent out until next year haha)

Invite nightmare..... did up a lovely mock up of the invite which I thought we might go for (just wanted to play about with fonts) but realised the card we have bought is the wrong size.... it's not quite a 1/4 A4.... so we can't use publisher for it, well not the publisher invites there probably is another one we can use. Just going to have to do a lot of playing about and printing different one's off I think until we figure it out. (This was exactly why I wanted to sort it out early and not wait until we needed to send invites out)

The company are online though, but the lady who does my dress has it in a different colour, so I think I'll be cheeky and get them to try the other colour on so we know what size they need. Only thing is the company have said the latest I can order and def get them is September, they'll be trying on in August... but one of my bridesmaids has had a baby and want's to lose weight.... ordering the dresses in September might be leaving it a little late :/

Things have been a bit dead wedding wise lately, my Auntie has mentioned it being close now.... but I think we're feeling a big meh as it seems like so long away, I can't wait for the one year mark to pass.

My bridesmaids have arranged when they can both come up to try dresses on and play about with chair sashes... which is the 16th of August.... so that's past the 1 year mark lol, focusing more on the last term at school and little one's 6th Birthday coming up at the moment.

I'm unsure on my bridesmaids dresses as well, I have been thinking it's probably worth paying more and having them specially made exactly how we decide we want them... but now I've come back on here and seen the picture of that dress, I think it actually looks really good... and would it even need a sash or do you think a purple underskirt and purple shoes would be okay? (might even buy them both a purple bag for once they put their bouquets down)

Speaking of bouquets I have been told of a good florists I should go speak to, so now I need to actually go and do that...

Had a talk about hen/stag dates the other day, it's looking like stag will be on the second bank holiday in May...

So choices for the hen are either the first bank holiday in May or a random weekend at the end of June....

I will be having another hen in June or July with the ladies from work and a few days before the wedding me and my bridesmaids are getting together for a bit of a pamper night.

So I am thinking the first bank holiday in May rather then June as I'll be excited about the wedding then anyway and have lots going on.... what do you guys think?

I also can't decide whether to stick with roses or not.... I've seen some lovely bouquets that are roses and some lovely one's that aren't.... But I have yellow roses on my cake, would it matter if they didn't match the bouquets? Also if I didn't have roses in the bouquets could I still have roses as buttonholes or should I have something to match the bouquets?

It's because it's from the bay and I could only copy the small picture it wouldn't let me copy the big one....

Loads has happened since I've last updated this.... no actual plans have been made yet mind, but loads of idea's have been thrown around.

Considering having a magician for between the wedding breakfast and evening reception starting, but it all just depends on cost, things are just constantly adding up. I've started thinking about a video-grapher as well but don't think we'll have the funds for one :(

Have some much firmer idea's on flowers, found a place that does stunning artificial one's, but can't decide between two bouquets, one with sunflowers and one without, both have the yellow roses in though :) I have emailed the place to ask some questions about both and about what they could do for matching flowers in both of them.

Changed our minds on bridesmaid dresses, having purple now instead of yellow but they will have yellow flowers only in their bouquets. I think both of them feel more comfortable in purple then yellow as they worry yellow would wash them out. If we go for the bouquet without sunflowers I'm considering having some purple flowers put in my bouquet only, but if we go sunflowers I think the bouquet looks complete as and don't think purple one's would look right in it.

My bridesmaids are coming up this weekend to discuss lots of things wedding (chair covers, hen ect.) and we're also going to try some bridesmaid dresses on, so I'm very excited about that :) will be great to catch up with them both as well.

A girl I went to school with got married last September, her bridesmaids were in royal blue, and both the bride and bridesmaids had just sunflowers in their bouquets, the bride's was just bigger and more round. The guys buttonholes were actually yellow gerberas which worked really well.

I think they look lovely and just a little bit different. Oh really likes sunflowers as well, they're one of his favourite flowers.

Bridesmaids seem to prefer the others, but I am leaning more towards the sunflowers.... can't decide whether I should have purple in my bouquet though or just stick to the yellow and white? What do you think?

Hi DonnaH39, I have just been reading through this post. Personally, I think if your bridesmaids are going to have bouquets of just yellow, I think your bouquet should maybe have a bit of purple in there as well as the yellow. It sets them apart from the bridesmaid bouquets and looks a bit more special :) I have seen some lovely bouquet ideas on Pinterest (I seem to recommend this to everyone, haha) which use the purple and yellow colours. There are some lovely combinations you could try out :) What colour shoes is everyone wearing, if I might add? You could maybe (if you want to go colourful) wear purple shoes with the yellow bouquet and have your bridesmaids have yellow shoes with their yellow bouquet x

They were going to have opposite shoes to their dresses when we were thinking yellow dresses and I was considering it for the purple dresses.... but I have seen some photo's online with yellow shoes and purple dresses and I don't know if it was just the shoes and dresses they had chosen but to me it looked a bit silly :/

So I think they'll probably have either purple shoes or maybe silver sandals... will think more on that once we have chosen their dresses. I already have my shoes, I've got some irregular choice one's which I am absolutely in love with, at one point I was thinking of yellow shoes for me when they were going to have purple, but then I fell in love with the others ;)

It's really annoying that I can't get photo's of the bouquets I am thinking of to get people's opinions on them

Oooo wait I have photo's :) I'll put them in my albums for if anyone wants to take a look and put their two pence in ;) everyone's opinion is welcome. (those are the bouquets they have on the site but I can ask for the extra purple in if I want as they can do them in any colours)

Just seen the pictures, I like the bouquet with the sunflowers in and added with purple flowers as well it would look amazing! What type of flowers will are in the bouquet and what type will the purple flowers be? We are going with plum and lilac for our wedding, we (or me) are a bit obsessed with the colour purple, our daughter is even called Violet! x
