This may sound petty but are any of you in the same situation as me where your venue has 2 weddings on the same day? I have only just found out that this is the case, they did not explain to us that this other couple had booked first when we did, thus meaning they get the bridal suite and first access to rooms for guests (it is only a small hotel, room wise). I am gutted we will have to stay in a generic room on our wedding night and also worried about another bride floating around. My self esteem just isn't high enough to be happy about this :(

Personally I would be very annoyed that they didn't tell me at the time of booking, especially as it means that you won't receive some of the things that were advertised.

However in terms of the situation itself (2 weddings in one day) yes this is fairly common and was why exclusivity of some sort was right at the top of our list of priorities.

Yeah that's all it is, I am hoping on the day it won't matter but I would just have liked to know when we booked that we would have to get our familys rooms booked asap (my entire dads side come from far away), and that we couldn't have the bridal suite. It is a much bigger beautiful suite with loads of room and a four poster bed. Our "suite" isn't even a suite it barely has room to walk around the bed and is really dark and it is just a bit sucky. Also the thing that is niggling at me is the fact that if they "forgot" to mention something like this how can I trust this guy to make our wedding perfect?

Are you getting a discount? Most hotels I've seen which have more then one wedding on the same day at least have more then one suite. If I were you I'd at the very least ask for a big discount, but I think the better option would be to see if you can move the date to one where there isn't another wedding booked (at least if someone books after you, they'll be the one's without the extra's)

Have you asked them why they didn't think it a good idea to tell you at time of booking, especially as you had expectations which at the time could have made the difference between you booking with them or not...!

It's common for more than one wedding in a venue, but they should have told you, especially as it means you are missing out on things such as the suite that you wanted

Thats rubbish :( as far I know there is only our wedding in our venue that day. They should definitely have told you when booked it, have you spoke to them? Maybe as DonnaH39 said they will give you a discount or allow you to change date with out any fuss. That would annoy me too, the thought of another bride wandering around but chances are you wouldnt see each other. It's alright to say the bridal suite is just a room but at the same time I'd be disappointed too. Does it say in the contract that the bridal suite is included? If so, surely they should offer you some compensation for this? Or do they have any other suites they could offer?

they don't offer exclusivity hire unless you are having your main chunk of the wedding in the larger function room which we are not. I am going to phone and see about a discount or moving to another date and being the first bride for then to get the goodies because it is really getting me down the more I think about it. They only have one bridal suite and its on the website that everyone gets it (obviously not possible) but in the brochure it just says accomodation. :/

That's rubbish they should have mentioned it, I don't think any family should get first dibs on the room it should be a first come first served idea.

I narrowed my search down to two venues one with two weddings I a day or the other with just one wedding, I went for the one wedding option. X

When I booked our registrar I was told that we'd lose our £100 deposit for any changes (even to move it by an hour) so if you do plan to change the date check if you'd incur a penalty with your registrar and then see if the venue would at the very least knock that amount off your venue fee for making you change your original plans.

I asked our venue if there would be any other weddings on. Luckily our venue only have one wedding a day. They should have told you, but they may have assumed, based on the type of venue/rooms they offer, that you would be aware they hold more than one a day. Its definately worth asking about moving the date if you are really not happy.

I don't think the main problem is having another wedding at the venue, I think its more that because the other wedding booked before the OP's wedding is not being given priority, in fact almost treated like it's second class (no bridal suite, guests get second dibs on rooms ect)

Hope you get this sorted and a change. Unfortunately unless you have exclusive hire there is the chance there will be another wedding or event on the day. That's why we went for a venue that gave us exclusive access to the manor house and grounds for the day so not even the guests of the hotel could wander anywhere near our reception.

I'd be annoyed that they hadn't said anything. You should have been told that you wouldn't get the bridal suite at least. You were perfectly within your rights to assume that you would get the suite. It doesn't really matter with our venue, as we've got the highest room, which is enclosed within it's own lobby, so if another party did book in we wouldn't see them. There isn't a bridal suite as such, just a few executive rooms, so there isn't an issue there either. It comes down to what the contract says really, although you may be able to claim that you weren't properly advised when you booked.

At my Venue their is a possibility of having two weddings one in each biome then into the gallery or in the same Biome but one gets to stay in the actual Biome So I have been told you will not see eachother's both wedding party's do not mix I guess that will just mean I have a wedding twin if it does happen

My sister in law got married at Gretna Green and you could see the other brides and their grooms their wedding party they would kind of mix and mingle on the dance floor and in the pub which I didn't like to be honest because we was a little small wedding and its meant to be intimate but how is it meant to be intimate when their are a load of strangers around and you have to choose your time when your wedding dance comes on and you have to sit and watch theirs So this is a case I would hate it was perfect till both wedding parties had to kinda mingle everyone was trying to avoid the other party Lool X

Silly autocorrect, I meant the biggest room. There are other rooms suitable for smaller weddings on other floors. We booked way in advance as well so we were the first to book for that day.

I hope you get this worked out soon, I would want to be the only bride of the day at the venue. They should have told you and I personally would change dates or change venue, it is YOUR special day and you shouldn't have to have limitations. Especially not having a bridal suite! I would be a very unhappy ducky,

Let us know how it goes?

They should definately have informed you when you booked- shocking!
Our venue can hold another wedding on the same day but they have 2 separate "wings" so to speak so our guests and there's should never be combined. Also they have 13 rooms and we get 7 including a bridal suite (we are the first booking but I think they get a bridal cottage and they have to have the bigger room with bigger min numbers).

Our venue can hold two weddings on any day. Our wedding is in the garden suite of the venue and so it is a seperate building from the actual hotel, althought they could still book a wedding for their ballroom.

I think it was unfair of the venu to let you book and then not give you ALL of the relevant information. I would speak to them and maybe consider booking a new venue or moving your date xx

our venue is similar to MrsThomson2B above - it holds 2 weddings a day but in a suite which is separate from the hotel where ours will be held.

We were the first to book on the date but were told that when booking both parties are able to prebook a number of rooms for guests of the wedding. Also there are 2 bridal suites to accommodate both brides which is enough to make me happy.

I've been a hotel guest at our venue before with 2 weddings on, and there was no cross over between brides/wedding parties whilst we were dining and drinking. I imagine the only time the 2 brides may see one another is at the end of the evening as there is only one way to the hotel but I'm personally not bothered by that. As for timings, when weddings are booked they are staggered to accommodate arrival etc of both weddings so as not to clash. All of this we were informed of when booking - I would be more than a little upset with this lack of honesty from my wedding venue x

wee update :) we had a rant and they could not have done more for us - we are getting a bridal suite it's just slightly different to the "main" one and we have seen it now and it's lovely. Also we had all the other rooms blocked off for us to give to our family and friends and a discount off our package! I don't really mind being 1 of 2 brides as we have separate everything, even entrances, and tbh our intimate glam wedding will be nicer than their big bland one :P
