I didn't even know there was a father daughter dance till I joined uk bride and seen a lot of people discussing what songs they were having. I thought it was an American thing, had no idea it was tradition over here. Although me and my dad are soooo close and like best friends It just doesn't seem us and I don't think he or I would really enjoy it. is it ok just to skip it? xx

We're not bothering with it. I don't think anyone would notice if you didn't have one. Apparently there's also a Mother-Son dance as well which we're also not doing.

I don't think me and my dad will do it either 'our' songis Van Morrison Brown eye girl and its not very slow dancey lol. I will dance with my dad to this song when it comes on like I do at every function but not in a father daughter dance capacity. If that makes sense.
we wont be having a mother son dance either.
After 7 years and 11 months he proposed to me 18.10.13
Our son is 5 years old and our world
Getting married 15.08.15.
Life hasnt been easy but we have each other :)
we did one, but that's because in the church ceremony we did there was no official dad giving me away, he just walked me down the aisle, whereas with my sisters it was the whole 'who gives this woman' bit. So I asked the DJ to do a dance for me and him with our song - it really made his day and made him feel special and included. If you don't want to though, don't worry, people wont even notice! xxx

We're not doing it. I've only been to one wedding that did, they also had a mother-son dance, but it all felt a bit awkward and took forever. It is very much an American thing, and I think unless the people concerned are good dancers and you're going to choreograph something interesting it's not worth doing. There's only so long you can watch people sway in time to the music.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I didn't really know there was one either, at least not in England. I won't be having one anyway and I've never been to wedding, or known of one to have a father/daughter dance. No big deal :) x

I didn't know that this was a tradition either. It all depends on what you want/feel comfortable with, its your day and you have it whatever way you want. :) xx

I think most people don't have a designated dance, if anyone dances with their dad at weddings I've been to it's been when everyone else is dancing. I think I will have a dance with mine but not a specific one if that makes sense.

I don't think I will be having one either...its a nice idea if its something you will both enjoy but I think one dance with everyone looking at me is enough for me and I would rather everyone else was on the dancefloor rather than watching me... :) xx

I am not doing a father daughter dance at my wedding either, even though me and my dad are close its just not us, like you said x

We had one and wouldn't have it any other way, my dad and I are very close and I'm very much a daddys girl. I know my dad was a little upset and disappointed that he and my sister didn't really have a proper father daughter dance at her wedding and I knew I really wanted it.
TBH of all the weddings I've been to very few have had a father daughter dance but I loved ours and I know all our guests enjoyed it too.
If you don't feel you want one then don't, you have to do what is right for you xxx

My sister had one after her official first dance but she looked uncomfortable doing both as she's not used to all that attention and I'm the same! I love my dad but it's enough for me just having the first dance without the extra one also x
