Me neither Mrs T but invested in a bike so not only does it save me waiting for the bus and £51 a month on buses; I'll hopefully start getting fitter and toning my body though this weather at the moment will make for fun rides to work... :(

Biking is a brilliant for losing weight. U gotta ride with motivation though not just steadily along.

Im doing half an hour circuits once a week and have started using the cross trainer for 25 minutes once or twice a week.

I dont want to loose weight so i am eating rubbish as nirmal. I just need to tone up a lot of jelly!

Well done ladies n keep it up! X

Weighed this afternoon, last check was two weeks ago. Weight is 61 kilos, down from 62.4, and waist is down from 84 cm to 80.5. Didn't check last Sunday as it was the time of the month and I didn't want to get a false idea. This week should be reasonably good, but I need to remember what I did with the pump for my bike tyres before I cycle again. I didn't follow up with checking my upper arm and thigh measurements, as I find I can't remember exactly where I took the measurement, and if it's not consistent it won't be accurate.

Hey Crawf, I've been using raspberry ketones and for me they really seem to be helping, I'm not sure if it's just a subconscious thing but I take one at breakfast and one at lunch and I'm not eating nearly as much and over 4 weeks I've lost 11lbs. I've also been drinking a pint of water with each meal so it could be this that's helping but I'm not giving up on either!

Thanks Beverley, I'm thinking if taking them just incase. Even if it just helps by subconsciously making me work harder ;)
I've completely fallen off the wagon today! MUST do better tomorrow.. Today I've had, weetabix for breakfast, Cheese burger (but no bun) and curly fries for lunch, then a lot of Guinness for the rugby and drunky Crawf and OH decided to share a curry and veggie rice. Oh god I feel sick... But I'm staring at some dark chocolate willing myself NOT to eat it right now.
    Stop it fatty!!!!!

Premature hangover is also hitting me.

Melanie, I don't know what is the 'right' thing to do but I weigh myself first thing in the morning every Friday.
Used to do it every other day but I fluctuate so much so had to restrain myself!!!

Hi Melanie, I think first thing in the morning and last thing at night are the most popular times to weigh, but the most important thing is that you do it at the same time of day every time for consistency. Once a week is a good frequency.

Hi MrsMalin2b, I've posted the link on your wall :)
Its actually called the f@st diet but is better known as the 5:2 d!et. It is very easy to follow, all you do is choose 2 days a week where you fast (eat 500 calories) the rest of the week you can eat as you please (within reason, obviously if you binge you wont lose weight).
I have found the fast days surprisingly easy, I try to leave off eating until as late as possible. I have been having 2 we!ght w@tcher meals on these days, the 1st usually around 2pm & the 2nd around 8pm. On my normal days I have had burgers, pizza, we even had an indian takeaway (onion bhajis, chicken tikka masala, rice & garlic naan) saturday night & copious amounts of alcohol with full fat coke & I still lost 4lb.
My cousin has been following this diet since august & has lost 3 stone :) after failing at many other diets.

If anyone is following the 5:2 diet please could you message me about 3-6 months after you stop dieting and start eating normally again? I'm looking to find out more about the specific after effects of this diet as so far the 'scientific' trials are very flawed so the results can't be relied upon and I like to have more information before responding to people asking me about the 5:2.

    Hi girls,

Hope its going well! 3 weeks in and I have had to have a rest from exercise tonight (and last few days really!) due to breaking a finger (so no badminton!) and waking up this morning with a rather sore back (so no DVD), I am hoping I just slept funny as it has been a right pain today. The kids at work even had to pick cones etc up off the floor for me today when teaching PE.

A few hours walking around a local shopping centre yesterday has helped towards the exercise a bit though even if it isn't as much exercise as I had hoped for over the last few days.

Maybe change to a new diet programme? Obviously there's we**t watch**s and S World, and you can google NHS weight loss to find their 12 week plan. Or lighter life is popular. They're all equally effective, but a change of method might give you a boost.

Or another thing that some people find helpful is to have a weight loss buddy. Maybe your H2B or one of your bridesmaids would be up for losing a little bit. You could even make it a friendly competition, as someone else on here has done.

Oh never heard of tht one. Might try it. Dunno what wrong with me. Normally really gd at motivating myself with diet but just cnt ATM good job I've got the amount months till my wedding or I would be crying all time. Maybe it to Dow it's weather to as weather been awful. ( maybe that is my excuse haha).

I was walking to work after Xmas, but I'm a family support worker so need my car to go on home visits when needed so tht has by passed now as that is what it consists of ATM. Also missing my long walks with both my dogs as one is extremely poorly with her leg and is having to go on and have a major operation so not been able to walk like I normally do with both, just sometimes your lifestyle hard to fit in with everything you need to do to loose weight. Don't know if anyone else feels like that. Sometimes I wish I has a 15month old to run around after lol x

Sorry for long post just as you can probably tell extremely down and upset about it and I know only person who can change tht is me lol x

Anybody have any good tips for exercises in the gym (not cardio) using your own body weight or free weights? I'm starting my 'lose relationship weight and regain 2011 body' by hitting the gym 3 times a week. To be honest, I've not seen much of a difference (in terms of scales and clothes don't feel too much looser at all!!) over the past month, so may up it to 4-5 times.

    Tips would be great.

Pang - bodyweight exercises: burpees, ice skaters, mountain climbers, crunches, plank, reverse crunches, military star jumps, bicycle crunches, press ups, static squat, jumps lunges, tricep dips, scissor kicks and prone flutter kicks to get you started. Free weight exercises: clean and press, tap back crunch, deadlifts, squats, lunges, reverse flyes, punch out in front, punch up in the air, lateral raises, wood chops, tricep extensions, bicep curls, tricep kick backs, bent over rows, russian twists and kettlebell swings.
I recommend picking and combination of about 12-15 moves (ideally split equally between body weight and free weight moves), performing each for 30 seconds and then repeat 3-4 times per session. Around 3 sessions a week (minium) should start getting you results within a month or so. Ignore the scales and just start taking measurements as that's where you'll be seeing the best results.
You should be able to find online vids of each exercise if you're not sure. Any problems/questions let me know.

Eek well it was a bad weekend for me, my birthday weekend so lots of alcohol and naughty food! Had a sneaky weigh though and have somehow managed to stay the same so far, so fingers crossed for Friday morning when I do my proper weigh in. A loss would be a miracle but after the amount I've put away the last few days I'll be quite happy to STS :-/

Thanks, Showgirl! I'm glad to say I do a few of those and will definitely have a look at some of the videos for the unfamiliar ones. Do you tend to concentrate on isolated areas per session, e.g. Arms, back and stomach for one session? Ahhh im so bad at burpees!! I used to do them with my partner and he's so fast!! Honestly, I'd get one in every three of his burpees.

I started off ok last year and lost 1 and 1/2 stone but then had some personal circumstances, moving and changing jobs so have had about 4 months off.
Joined a new gym on Friday and going tonight for the third time so hoping that I can really stay focused now!
Bit too scared to weigh myself at the minute though... Maybe next week?! Xxx

I try to make every session an all over workout so I'll be hitting each area at least once - I LOVE doing supersets though so usually end up hitting each 2 or 3 times per set.
If I'm working out on consecutive days then I try to concentrate on upper body one day then lower body the next but it doesn't always work... I find it impossible to resist the urge to add in levels of difficulty to the point I end up with an all over workout.
I hate doing burpees so much but sadly they are just too good for you to drop from a workout. Having said that I have a 2.5 hour session planned for tonight with not many burpees in there so far - woohoo!

You might be able to lose some weight just with diet. If you google basal metabolic rate (BMR) calculator, you can work out roughly how many calories your body will burn in a day while resting. Then if you can aim to eat less than that each day you should lose some weight. If I remember rightly you'd need to eat 500 calories less than your BMR to lose a pound a week, but obviously don't go too low. You don't want to be dropping below about 1200. It will be a slower loss than if you were exercising too, but it means that you don't have all the weight to lose two or three months before the wedding. Are you allowed to walk places? 30 minutes walking every day would make a huge difference.
