    Well yesterday was about 1400 calories, still within the NHS plan which allows up to 1400, but more than other days. I did however cycle to work and back which was half an hour each way. Today I'm hoping to be more like 1200, especially as I have to go straight from work to a church service and then from there I'm going to H2B's to stay over, as we have an early start in the morning. That means that on top of the 720 calories that I've had so far today, it's just going to be small, hopefully healthy snacks. I did half an hour on the trampette this morning as well.

    I've been doing the 5:2 "fast" diet due to my mum loving and her losing a stone and half, but I've been doubg it and gyming between once and 3 times a week. Norm atleast 2. But have not lost anything , although i feel I look better, my clothes don 't seem particuarly loser and according to the gym scales have not lost any weight since I joined in Oct/nov? Help!

    Drop the diet and just eat healthily everyday - never drop below 1200 calories per day otherwise you'll put your body into starvation mode where your body starts storing as much fat as possible and uses up muscle tissue for fuel (don't forget the heart is a muscle too). If you like the idea of following a diet plan then a certain Healthy Food magazine has a number of yummy recipes and towards the end there's a one week meal plan averaging about 1400 calories per day, I'm sure there are other publications available who offer something similar as well. My Fitness Pal has an online calorie counter with a database of recipes and from what other ladies have said the NHS plan is also a possible option.
    Often diet plans are designed for a sedentary lifestyle so its not advisable to do any exercise whilst following one unless stated as part of the plan.

    I'm always dubious about any diet that involves fasting. It's against the general advice that comes from health professionals. Consistency is much more important, as when you fast your body tries to conserve energy, and therefore you burn fat more slowly. The plan I'm following is 1400 calories and half an hour of exercise every day. I lost three kilos before Christmas on it, in the space of about six weeks.

    It might indicate that the weight is more down to muscle, but it does depend on how good the body fat analysis was. If in doubt get your G.P. to check it. Be aware that the BMI is a bit vague, and doesn't necessarily work for people who are particularly muscular. Another guideline that I heard about recently is that your waist measurement should be half your height. Not sure how reliable that is though, as it suggests that someone taller could have more fat on their abdomen.

    BMI is not something you should be worrying about - unless you live an entirely sedentary lifestyle the BMI scale is just too inacurate. Stick with the body fat calculation, however just bear in mind that there is also a slight margin of error when it comes to taking these measurements to be calculated so try to bear in mind that the result may not be 100% accurate... It'll be more like 99% accurate but will act as a good guide.

    Hey guys when to the doctors a spoke about my diet and she weighted me I lost a stone and a half. So happy. She also suggested lemon water for a breakfast drink. But didn't tell me how its ment to help. She suggest that I walk for up to half an hour a day. And told me to take up swimming. I'm just pleased I lost so much weight. Xxxx

    SOOOOOOOO many things impact on your BMI! From time of the month, to body heat and to what you ate the day before. Rightly or wrongly, I always take BMI with a pinch of salt.

    So tomorrow is my first measuring since I started my change in eating and increased my exercise. I am a little nervous if I am honest as I have been rather proud of myself to sticking to my self devised eating plan/calorie intake. I will also be gutted if there is no difference as my H2b the other day said he can see a difference already and he is MR. Honest!! Sometime too honest lol.

    However, this weekend we did go out for an Indian lol. But, a treat every once in a while is something I will not give up.

AND jeans I bought last year that were always far too tight are now loose !! Eeekk !! I'm so happy and am totally ignoring the stupid scales !!! I feel so much more confident in myself :-) AND my wedding dress was made to measure in August, the scales say I'm heavier now than I was then but it needs taking in ! Go figure haha xxx

    Weighed and measured tonight, and I'm down from 64.8 kilos to 62. Plus waist measurement down from 86 cm to 84.5. That's despite having a disastrous day today. I'm anticipating that my weight next week might be a bit up because I'll be pre-menstrual, but hopefully I might still see a drop in measurements. I've recorded upper arm (30.5 cm) and thigh (56 cm), so I can keep track of those as well.

    Try a large salad. A glass of water can make you feel surprisingly full too. Maybe do a bit of extra exercise, and cut your calories over the next couple of days. Having said that 1400-1500 calories is still ok for a weight-loss plan.

    Oh no! I've accidentally agreed to do the London to Brighton bike ride in June! OH's work were trying to peer pressure him into doing it with them and I thought it was a great idea for him to join in as he currently does zero exercise. I offered to train him for it and when I said "I'll do it with him" meaning the training he thought I was referring to the actual ride and instantly called his colleague on Skype (they all work from home) and said we'd both be joining them.
    Don't really want to do it but I do want to support OH so will just have to suck it up and pack a load of deep heat into my bag - I have an old knee injury which makes cycling at a high intensity over a long distnce quite painful which is why I've had to tell the gym I'm not willing to teach any spin classes. I'm fine with all other forms of exercise so I'll hopefully be able to strengthen my knee a little by June.

    Have just taken my measurements after 2 weeks and 2 days of attempting to loose a bit of weight and it must be working as my measurements were;

    B: 41.5
    W: 35.5
    H: 43.5

    and they are now ....

    B=40
    W=35
    H=42.5

    So in 2 weeks I have lost .... 3 inches.

    Have a feeling that this weekend could be a bad one in terms of food.

    We were out for dinner last night with friends and we ended up having 3 courses (not that I was able to finish it all!) I ended up having Calamari, Chicken and Prawn Fajitas and Chocolate Fudge Cake (big Opps! - I didn't finish it though!! ). We are today at a football game and we usually have a chippy visit (I am adamant I wont be having anything today, I hope i can stay strong lol!) and then tomorrow we are at H2b's parents for dinner.

    Could be doing a DVD and playing Badminton more than the usual 3 times a week next week!!

    My excuse is that OH was taken into hospital Wednesday morning and I had no time to gym and no desire to stand cooking for one this week! He is all fine now and came home this morning which is awesome :)

    Paula you need to measure yourself as well. You're probably building muscle which weighs more than fat. It's better in the long run though, as you will burn more calories with more muscle.

    Hi, it's weigh day tomorrow, I'm worried as I know I have worked hard and eaten well and properly and I'll be devastated with no loss. I'm getting good at only weighing once a week, I used to do it every day but I fluctuate so much it was causing minor breakdowns every few days!!

    Went to a brill yoga class on Tuesday that my friend runs, I expected it to be boring and I was only going to support her in her new venture but it was SO hard.. Was yoga for weight loss and my word, I couldn't even sit down the next day! Even my fingers ached. Will be signing up for 6 weeks now!
    Today I did a personal training session and it killed me!! It was with the same friend as the trainer, and she didn't take pity on me at all haha. She gave me great nutrition advice and goals to work towards and exercises to do at my works gym. I'm so motivated to keep it up now, although exhausted!!!

    Hope everyone is on track and doing well on their weight loss/toning up/whatever your goal is(!) journey xxxx
