I'll have to do a FB status asking if people would appreciate this kinda thing, would suck to put it all together and have no one touch it!

im not going to bother we are getting married in the winter x
CommentAuthorKate4
I don't see who wouldn't bother if it was there really. Every time I leave the house I need something I haven't got. Always snag tights, always break a nail. Would always use hair spray etc.
And only cost a tenner for everything plus I can use the basket afterwards!
CommentAuthorBobsi
id use it. i carry spray around so if it was there would save space in my bag. xx

even in the winter youn need deoderant after lots of dancing and painkillers or antacids. hairspary and a hairbrush would also be essential after being outside in the winter weather. xx
I would love to do this, but unfortunately,I dont trust all our guests enough to leave it all there and not put bits in their bags for just them to keep! I may do the flip flops idea though! xx

what about doing the little travel minitures then and that way it would really matter if they pop one in their handbag? xx where are the flip flops from? would be a nice idea but i have a lot of women coming so would worry about someone needing them and being left out!! lol
CommentAuthorMrsE 2b
Our venue has public toilets for the men (general pub) but private ladies one just for the function room. Still thinking of putting something in for the men and just writing a tag for "wedding guests only" or something, and hoping they don't nick it!
Not sure about the painkillers though - you shouldn't take these at the same time as drinking alcohol... and there's a lot of drinking at weddings!!

It has got more in it now but cant find a photo Think i might add some tights - great idea :) Not putting any medicines in there - i would be too worried that a child might take them or i'd cause someone to have an allergic reaction or something. Plus given theres about 6 pharmacists in the room i will trust that they will have it covered

i'm gunna put a little bottle of clear nail varnish for tight ladders rather than new tights lol

No I dont mean so that I can keep them! But I can see some going in at the beginning of the wedding breakfast and putting all the bits in their bags, meaning that no one else gets to use them, I dont mind at the end of the night, but I dont want to go through all the thought of preparing them, for 3 or 4 selfish people to just take it all for themselves xxx

Linzi what about creating a little poem or something to explain that the products are for sharing so everyone and appriciate them. i will have a think about the wording but that might be an alternative as if its kept light hearted im sure they wouldnt then dream of taking the stuff! xx
CommentAuthormtwi
was just thinking the same as you lows - yes - a little note to say SHARE :) if anyone finds a poem or is creative with them would love a share on here! ;) great ideas ladies! I am now a bit weary of the painkillers - maybe on the note write that they are available from best man should they want!

mtwi: great idea about the painkillers! :) I didnt even think about the dangers of leaving them in the loos until nicsquared mentioned it!

I found this poem on another site, it's quite cute, although it was a US site so might not be to everyone's liking!
So happy you're here to share in our special day, but should something happen to go astray. Please help yourself to the contents within, Wet wipe, hand lotion, and even aspirin, Use only what you need and leave the rest, It may also be useful to another guest, So repair the damage that may have been done, Then hurry on back and join in the fun!
To help you feel your best! Just use a little... Freshen up.... and leave for other guests
Whether your skin feels dry or your hair out of place. You're not feeling so fresh, or whatever the case. We've put together a basket to help you along. Now hurry back out before you miss the next song!

Not sure if its been mentioned but we were talking about these on another forum and said tablets i.e. pain killers or hayfever tablets might not be such a good idea if you have lots of children at your wedding wouldn't want kids getting hold of tablets just wanted to mention that x
thankfully mine is going in my Bride's powder room which children aren't allowed in and their is a really high windowsill where the basket will be sat but good shout Sian :-)

I like the poems, I want a short and sweet label for mine, maybe something like:
Thank you for sharing our wonderful day, Please help yourself to a chewy...or spray! Use what you need but leave the rest, As it may come in handy for another guest!
I just found that online too xx
CommentAuthorlows
Sian we had mentioned the issue with pills and children in a few earlier posts. I should be ok as i only have 4 little ones all under 4 who wont be going anywhere on their own. but for others it might be an idea that one of the ushers or bridemaids has an emergancy stash on them for anyone who needs some.
I am also loving these poems will defo be having one of these to go with my basket xx
CommentAuthorSian''OCD''Holkham
I read some not all and went in to panic mode lol x
I know sometimes we forget about little things like that, but they could have dramatic consiquences. im gonna go shopping for my bits for my basket over the weekend. if i start now i might have it all done in time for the wedding!! Im gonna do 2 as our venue has 2 sets of ladies one in the day room and one for evening but i think both will be used all day so best cover all my bases!! xx
I just bought heaps of treats for this from £ land and spend £30 - bargain (also doing baskets for my out of town guests staying at a hotel around the corner from us, hence a bit of a hefty price tag but all in all absolutely happy). now looking for baskets (which I will either recycle within my house after the day or will be used for gifts or on here afterwards. Any nice basket ideas ladies (I thought about vintage wooden garden trugs (saw some cute little white ones with cut out hearts on them from bay of e ... do you think that would be ok?
thank you everyone for sharing the poems too - will grab a few.
Oh and anyone doing basket for the gents? I want to do a really nice soap and hand lotion in the ladies but really don't think guys would even notice! (a very very small handful might)

Im not doing a basket for the gents as they dont normally care about that sort of stuff!!
im going to shop for all my stuff next week. xx

Toiletries Basket • Painkillers • Girlie things • Plasters / blister things • Flip flops • Sewing kit • Hand cream • Tights • Deodorant / spray • Hair ties • Safety Pins • Hair pins • Indigestion tablets • Comb • Hairspray • Diaorreah tablets • Tissues • Wet wipes • Gaviscon • Face / feet cooling spray • Hayfever tablets • Mouthwash / mints • Nail file • Clear nail varnish • Lint roller • Mini perfume with a little poem of borrowed from the ladies on here as well (will tweak by adding something about if they want painkillers/tablets etc ask the best man or someone)

i will be giving all tablets to my sister to keep in her hand bag or leave in the car that way i know where they will also have to take my daughters inhalers and calpol for my other daughter incase of one of her headaches i feel like a walking chemist when we go any where. my girls are good and know not to touch tablets so they would be safe in the bathroom but you can't tell what other ppls kids are like x
CommentAuthorlows
Bobsi yeah its the same idea just different way of presenting it. xx
CommentAuthormcquire81
Im definitely doing this! Ive filled my basket with deoderant, body spray, plasters, sanitary towels, tampons, mouthwash, lip balm, moisturiser and face wipes so far but may add a few more items. Ive added one of the poems featured further up on this thread and it looks really good. Decided not to do one for the men because i dont think they will use it, but i think the ladies will really appreciate it.
CommentAuthorxxRosiexx
I have to say up until recently although I liked the idea I wasn't completely sold on it but I went to a wedding last week and they had a basket and it was so nice to be able to have a quick freshen up! lol Definitely doing one now :)

painkillers isnt a good idea what if i child gets hold of them x
CommentAuthorOWB
I only have 1 little girl that will be using the ladies, she'll be 6 at the time of the wedding, and she doesn't go taking tablets at home so we're fine. I understand the issue with younger children, but then surely they wouldn't be using the toilet alone anyway?
If only life could be one long tea break
CommentAuthorSian''OCD''Holkham
I personally just wouldn't risk it you never know I'm going to ask my venue co ordinator if I can keep some tablets behind reception or something maybe then they are out of harms way better to be safe than sorry x
I wont be keeping pain killers in the basket then. I only have 4 children coming to the day 2 boys, 2 girls and they will be with the parents most of the day but still not going to risk it. x
