I love that there are so many other organised people out there. Some people seem shocked when I tell them how much I have sorted and I am starting to feel sad I won't have much to organise next year but I'm glad I've booked things up as services do get booked in advance and I know exactly what the cost of everything is. Just got the dress, suits and honeymoon to sort next year. Oh and the rings.

Currently looking at invites now but not found anything I really like and certainly not within what I would be willing to pay so looking at making these myself. I am not very crafty but my MOH has offered to help and she made her own wedding invites for hers so hopefully we can make a nice weekend of it and they look good :) x

I get told all the time I am really organised with the wedding, that I won't have anything to next year. I've even had someone tell me I should get married next year, that I'm going to be engaged forever.

I love the wedding planning process. Yes I do find it overwhelming at times but I love being engaged, planning the day, my h2b loves all the little touches I am planning.

    Hello All.
I am getting married 28th July 2018. I was shocked at how ahead of the game brides are, I was not ready.
Next year we wouldn't have got anything we wanted so I am now all over this booking and paying deposit thing.
So far venue, photographer, one band, make up and hair. Phew and breathe!!xx

    Hi Amy,
Welcome to the group! Don't forget to get your insurance sorted ASAP. I know what you mean about being ahead of the game I see people saying they have 6 months to plan a wedding and I think no thanks I want to take my time.

well done on the planning folks! yes lots of people have said I am over organised when I have so long left bla bla, but it means I can plan little touches which is what I want, no rushing around!
we are using Sh00t i8 Your$elf for our videography, have a look its well worth it I think,

For me the photos and videos are almost the most important thing, I cant wait to have those memories!

haha I did think this but I know that certain people would love to do it for us and are quite creative so I think they would take good care of them, although my family are a bunch of lunatics so I will keep everything crossed they get back in one piece. I've ordered a hard drive too which means I get every single piece of footage unedited which I think will be nice to watch

The one thing I've realised since planning the wedding is I'm a major people pleaser which my partner has almost snapped me out of so its our day not everyone else's. As much as it would probably save money I'd still hate to put it on someone who hasn't offered. My OH did this for his brother and SIL and they said it was great up until the evening where they didn't have any other footage than the floor and odd shoe LOL.

I agree that photography and vidoegrapher is a really important aspect. OH asked me if the video was really necessary which I said yes even though we have pictured we may forget certain parts of the day which a video will catch. I also explained that the moment my dad sees me and also the moment OH will see me are the most important parts I want recording.

I would love a videographer, will have to see what the budget is like after Christmas.

I met with the brooch bouquet lady today to discuss the flowers girls posy. Eek! It was so much fun looking at the buttons, brooches etc. Waiting for the quote now.

    Hey everyone,

For those that have mentioned it, I seem to be recovering okay. Currently have stitches in my backside, so convenient, but I get them out on Monday (hopefully). After then I fully intend to start making some Christmas and Wedding bits. Like some of you I'm a bit crafty, h2b would probably say I was in more way than one! I am intending to make my save the dates and invites. I may get the bulk of the printing part done by ordering the card bits online then make them extra pretty with handmade envelopes etc. But we'll see what I can come up with.

I am also putting together activity buckets as part of our centrepieces. It's going to include little party favours, colouring pages, streamers, masks etc so that the guests can have a bit of fun whilst waiting for food to come out and the bits of downtime in between. Might put some glow sticks in as well ready for the evening. I'm hoping it'll be a good way of breaking the ice on tables where they may not know each other and we get some good photos of people messing around as well.

I don't know where to start with booking the next thing in. Probably photographer?! Make sure we get a good one for the date we've got. I've met a really nice lady at a wedding fair, so might get her round so she can chat to h2b too then go from there.

It really hit me last night that I'm actually planning my wedding and it is really going to happen, excited doesn't cover it at all. I'm really going to get stuck in after Christmas and start planning all the small touches that I want to do. Also going to see a car company tomorrow and then hair and make up lady next week. Seeing my closest friend tomorrow and asking if he will be my witness.

    Everything sounds amazing ladies!!

On another note, I ordered some business cards to go with my save the dates so they get a bit of added info and missed the apostrophe on the word can't. so they read cant not can't .. my other half had the biggest tut fest of his life about it and now I can not decide if it is worth re ordering them for the sake of £20 quid or not.. normally I never would but as its my wedding not sure if I should and just suck up the loss on it...

... the activity buckets sound awesome.. I am going to have a photo props bucket somewhere but not sure where yet.. still having the internal debate about booking a photo booth but its about £500....

I used Debs' too it seemed the best price and gave all the cover I should need. I have re ordered my STD cards today after a grammar error on my behalf, very annoying but in the grand scheme of the wedding for the sake of 20 quid I thought it was worth it, I also ordered some save the evening cards. I received a STD from a friend and then received an evening invitation which I found a bit confusing as I thought STD were for the whole day so I decided if I was a bit thrown by that it would be better to have separate STD for day and evening guests.
Decided to send them in with xmas cards to save on postage, yes it is a little early but i'm tight so meh!
Going to buy sticky labels today and make my own return address stickers as they ended up being v expensive to buy pre done and I couldn't find a design I wanted has anyone else done this?

Also I need a bit of help, our venue has an archway that sits behind the ceremony table and over a barn door, its beautiful but most people decorate it with flowers which I have chosen not too.. my only thing is now what do I decorate it with.. we cant obstruct the door so the decs have to follow the arch rather then being draped across the opening ... would bunting work?

Sorry for the massive post any ideas welcome x

I agree with having separate save the dates. If I got one I would assume I was invited to the whole day so it is best to specify day/night on them to avoid any misinterpretations. It is bad enough the cost of invites never mind postage etc on top so I don't blame you for making your own return labels.

I bet the archway makes for some lovely photos. I would say some sort of bunting would work as you could wrap it around. I bet fairy lights would look really pretty round it too x

I have got the xmas cards today as C7int0n5 had a sale on 3 for 2 for boxes of 20. so 60 cards for a tenner isn't too bad! Althought I am quite nervous about posting them out as it means the guest list is sort of set!

I'm planning on sending save the dates with Christmas cards too. I wasn't going to bother with sending anything to evening guests only just send them an invite nearer the time for evening only. Is that bad?!

In regards to the arch, I reckon fairy lights would be good. Although a photographer in spoke to at a wedding fair said that when it's still daylight they don't tend to show up in photos much. Maybe get some fake ivy to wrap around it or ribbon. We're going to have a metal handrail I need to cover up to make it look nicer for photos and I'm leaning towards ivy or some kind of greenery myself.

Yeah I need to have a think, because we aren't allowed to obstruct the actual door part it limits how much of the décor can be seen on it.

I think good old Pin trest will have to be my new best mate so will look for ideas on there.

I know what you mean we sent our save the dates out last month and there were a couple of the OH mates that we were still umming and ahhing over whether we can fit them in on the day (and an on/off wife included with one) so didn't send a save the date to them just in case as a lot could happen before 2018 but it is all very official when your writing them out.

I don't think it is bad duostar or I hope not as I didn't issue anything to the evening guests either. I must admit I have never actually received a save the date before only just invitations closer to the time, however I thought it would be good to send so we don't keep getting asked what date is it again and because it is a bank holiday weekend I was wary about people making other arrangements x

I've managed to sit up long enough to have a go on the Pc this evening and put a design together for our save the date. I've uploaded a screenshot to my photo album. Will be keeping that layout I think but different colour background and need to play around with the fonts. We've got a film theme so wanted it to look like a ticket.

No sewing now until I finish my dining room. I have hand sewed about another 30 triangles, once the dining room is finished I can get the sewing machine back out.

What's everyone up to tonight? My OH is off to a local bonfire tonight with some friends. I would go but still in the midst of recovering for my op. Stitches due out on Monday. Hoping to getc back to normal soon.

So I think tonight I'm going to make a start on some Christmas decorations and maybe a bit of research on bridal hair.

Has anyone else got really thick hair? I'm not sure how to have mine. I just know it needs to be up otherwise I'm going to overheat.
