Hi Ladies hope all your planning is going well!

I was getting married this August but due to a number of issues we have had to postpone so will now be getting in July '18.

    Things we have done/got -
    *Wedding dress (at MIL's)
    *Veil
    * All flowers- teardrop, wands, button holes etc (in box for safe keeping)
    *Garter
    *Guest books
    *Photographer booked and deposit paid
    *Church booked
*Shoes x2 - heals for church and flats for dancing
    *Invites made (need new inserts)
    *Designed cake
*Transport (Mates car, I wanted to walk but apparently I'm not allowed! MIL lives across from the church lol)

    Got to do-
*Check venue for reception is available for new date
*Find suits and shoes for groom, groomsmen and best man
*Shoes and suits for the page boys
    *Order gifts for wedding party
*New dresses for flower girls and shoes (Others wont fit :'( )
    *Book venue decorator
    *Get bridesmaid dresses and shoes

Can anyone think of anything I have missed big or small ? Between planning our wedding, Christmas (yes already!), birthdays and my brothers wedding all the lists have been merging into one lol.

Spoken to both fathers. And its been agreed my biological father will walk me down the aisle and my step dad will do the father of the bride speech as i lived with him growing up.. is this weird them sharing jobs?? Not sure people will get it but i think it could work out really well ?

    Thanks Michelle.
We always forget rings! I must put it on our to do list.
Music and food is all done by the venue thankfully, we do need to pick music for the church and first dance tho.

Wizbit89 I don't think it's weird at all. I think it's lovely that they are able to share the role and both be included on your big day.

It doesnt matter what others think Liz. All families have their own dynamic and its whatever works for you. Your very lucky to have two fathers in your life who want to be apart of your day, that's all anyone will be thinking I'm sure.

The bridesmaids dresses came and they aren't great so my gamble didn't pay off. Won't be ordering of the internet again.

    Morning Ladies,

Liz that's great news on the speeches issue, a happy solution for everyone there :) I think its brilliant both of them are involved and really lovely too.... wish I could do that with my bio dad but hes a waste of space haha sounds harsh but true.

Michelle, how lovely you won't see OH suit until the big day, I think its lovely, I would have left OH to do that but after he was looking at 128 per suit hire charges I had to step in.

Tiffany, welcome to the 2018 group so sorry you've had to postpone your wedding, are you having an order of service you may need to pop that on your list.

Spent the weekend making bows, lots and lots of bows. Should have just brought them would have been easier haha oh well its the personal touches that count.

hahah Stacey think how smug you can feel when the bows are all done!

Did we ever decide if we think an order of service is needed for a civil ceremony or not? im confuuuseeddd.

Hi Tiffany welcome to the group

Michelle, I have found somewhere that does vintage hire, the suit is 85 itself but there is a £100 security deposit per suit which is a bit of a bugger but at least that is refundable!

    Hey all!

does anyone ever look at the other threads and think OMG I am an over organised Bridezilla? ahahah some people just getting invites done and I have printed and started cutting mine out so I can put them together and get them in the loft hah!

Emailed my venue yesterday to get day timings, reception to start at 7pm.. does that seem late or is it just me? Maybe I love a party too much ahh
They said we will have a big meeting 3 months before! I have a feeling by then I will have an itemised spreadsheet of the day broken down in 15 min sections hahaha

Haha I try not to read all the old threads unless I'm looking for something in particular but yes people are more organised but I think when you book things in advance it helps to give you more time.

I asked our venue about menu tasting thinking we would be way to early to get it sorted now but they were just like we normally ask you to do it on a Sunday or a weekday but whenever you've made your choice let us know and we will book you in.

I know how you feel about the big meeting Liz, we have a handover meeting two weeks before from the Wedding coordinator to the events manager, I'm going to be so prepared by then they will think I'm a bridezilla haha

I bet you will surprise yourself lyndsey, I found my flower inspiration in P1nt3r3st just by putting in my colour theme and flowers. But if the florists are worth their weight in salt they will have lots of ideas and suggestions to help you out :)
I'm going to change my flowers slightly, I loved the idea of wands for the FG but thinking of a 2 and 3 year old with pointy sticks probably isn't the safest choice I have ever made lol! So I think I will go back to a posy.

I had a meeting with my venue wedding planner last week and we went through the whole timings of the day.
It was great as we could run our ideas by and check we can do them.
They thought our ideas really flowed and are letting us do some unique things that other places wouldn't.
I am glad I had my meeting now as my imagination could have gone wild and they could have said no to everything

We are having just plain sponge for ours. We are being boring. We are also having a separate gluten, dairy and soya free wedding cake for our guests with allergies.(It may also be egg free if he can do it)

We are having - One more step along the world I go, Give me joy in my heart and All things bright and beautiful.

I am one of these not so organised brides- only sent save the dates last week!

We have band and anything music booked but not other big things like transport and photographers - still 15 months so I want to spend time making it perfect

7pm is early to me for evening- ours is 730-8pm start

Think we are finishing the music from band/dj at 12 but we can keep going until 2am if we want and just used ipod

Each bride does things differently Michelle, I wouldn't class you as disorganised, OH called me a bridezilla when we started cause I was stupidly excited.

We are having our evening start at half 7 too then I'm thinking food about half 8-9ish, will see what venue recommends.

I've booked all of the big things to get them at the best price for us but I love all the little touches like favours and thank you gifts so I'm spending most of my time looking into those.

we will also have a sweetie bar so lots of sugar and goodies to keep us going.

I've booked my hair dresser to do our hair and make up already- even without a trial- it took me so long to actually enjoy going to the hairdresser and finding a salon where they are down to earth and I can sit and chat that I wouldn't want anyone else to do my hair

I have got my friend doing makeup and her sister doing my hair so am really lucky with that. Bought the bridesmaids dresses today so that is exciting. just chatting to my hairdresser about what kind of accessories to go for now.

Trying to get the other half to help me confirm day and evening guest lists so I can confirm invitation numbers. But have now made and printed most of the invitations so they can be boxed and put away until Dec / Jan.

Oh no Lynsey. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Just got home from our weekend away seeing the cake decorator. After seeing everything he can do I now have no idea how I want the cake lol. OH is being no being help saying as long as he can eat it he is isn't bothered. Typical of him.

Went just to sort cake out and spend time with our friend (lad decorating the cake) so he would know someone else at the wedding other than just me and come home with a new veil that is 1000 times better than the one I got offline. Need some ideas of a gift for him as he paid for it on the understanding we would pay him back (he offered, I didn't ask), went to get bank details off him so I could transfer it when I next get paid and he tells me the veil is my engagement present! So not only is he doing our wedding cake for free he has paid over £100 for my veil!

I spent this weekend tackling the wedding tasks which don't need me to make anything. I've ordered the children's party bags, the I spy wedding cards, the card bunting and a small compact for my MOH.

Ordered the dressing gowns for myself and the bridesmaids. Taking one to get alterations done this weekend cause shes stick thin, tall and unlikely to change so needs taking in an inch or two.

Really need to start building a stock pile of DIY stuff so when I have a boring weekend I can sit and make things.

    Hey Everyone

Lynsey wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you are okay!
I love the DIY stuff but I have to say i'm getting a bit bored making invitations now lol
Made lots of good progress this weekend though..

Deposits paid on Bridesmaid dresses so I am just waiting on some sizing confirmations so I can get those ordered.
Invitations for the day are pretty much all printed, cut and stuck into the pocketfolds so I am slowly doing the fiddly bit of tying in string and squeezing into the envelopes that I am addressing as I go. I will add the tags with wax seals closer to the date of sending so the wax doesn't perish.
Designed the evening invites at work on Friday (bad me) so printed a load and cut them out on Friday. Not confirmed evening guest list yet so wont make these up until closer to the time but they are all cut and ready to go.

Feel like I got lots done, still need to finish painting the ceter pieces and figure out how I am going to put them together and transport them for the day.... no idea! why do I have to get so carried away!
