We get married in almost three weeks and we still havent paid the final balance for the venue, the photographer and the cars. We have the money for the venue as his mum has that but not the rest. Its killing me. I havent got the money, I paid all I could (we split the cost after what our parents helped out with) but he has barely paid any. He has however paid for him to go to new york in ten days with his best man! If I had enough to cover the wedding this wouldnt bother me. He does so much for us and paid for my keep for 2 years when I was at uni, but it was him that pushed for us to get married THIS summer, and now we cant afford it. It doesnt even seem to bother him at all. He just says we will pay them when we can, or he will have the money next week, but it wont get paid as then he will go on holiday! He seems to expect these people to put up with late payments even though he wouldnt. I dont know what to do, I really resent him taking such an exspensive holiday, so close to the wedding and leaving me sat at home with our son. I was never particularly happy with it but thought he deserved the break. Now I want to cry at the thought, its like he has jeapodised our wedding to have a holiday with his mate. I may be overreacting but I just dont know what to do or say. I can barely look at him right now...Although saying that he has gone to the gym, another luxury he can afford.

It sounds like he doesn't grasp the reality of the cost. Would you have had enough if he hadn't gone on the holiday? I would be surprised if they would be happy to accept payment late, but maybe you need to ask them just to show your H2B that it isn't an option. Is there anyone who can loan you the rest of the balance?

just tell his you have had a call from the effected vendors quireing when they will get there final payments as they are already over due, and if it is not paid they will cancel and the deposit is non refundable, it might give him a kick to realise it need to be sorted and will get his thinking cap on and come up with it. could your parents or his help with it for now and you pay them back asap?

We would have had more than enough if he hadnt gone on holiday, It has cost him at least 1.5k and we only nedd £500 to pay off whats left. I have told him that the vendors have been emailing me about payments even though they havent but he still doesnt seem phased. Both sets of parents have helped out so much and whilst his parents could afford to lend it us, i really dont want to have to ask.

I think either you or him should ask his parents for a loan of £500 just until you both are able to pay it back. I would rather ask for a loan than lose out

well hun getting a helping hand from parents that you will pay bas as soon as you can is better than getting like a short term loan or anything.

Maybe you should ask the family for the money and tell him you have no choice but to otherwise the suppliers will cancel, then tell him he needs to pay back the family when he gets back from his holiday, this might make him more inclined to pay what's left of his half as it's family and not a faceless supplier he'll owe money to.

Hold his passport to random , he can have it back when HE raises the money you need .... not sure it's down to you to get the money .

    OR

    pinch his spending money

^there's a good point, take it out of his spending money, the cheeky shite, or he won't have a weddign to come back to as the venue won't mess around, they will just pocket what you have paid (well within their rights to as well) and you will have no wedding. He needs to grow up and sort his priorities out.

Ive sorted it ladies! He is paying with his spending money and then he gets paid a couple days before he goes away so can use that money as spending money instead of making the vendors wait until then to be paid. We have also paid the venue so i can stop stressing. Men! They really dont get the whole wedding thing!

    hey
glad its all sorted, were in the same boat (kinda)......just worked out we have just shy of £3k to pay and only 3 paydays left to do it!
H2B inst phased......i am worried sick! Turns out he didnt pay a speeding fine he got like 6 months ag0 and instead has had to pay £600 this month in fines - i didnt find out til a letter from council tax came asking why we hadnt paid and he finally admitted (after a big row) he didnt have the money to pay it cos of this fine! I am astounded......i swear he thinks were gonna magic £3k out of the sky or something..... that doesnt even include the little extras we still need to get like ribbon, guestbook, thank you gifts......
i really dont know what to do :-(
