Has anyone opted for a late wedding to skip the wedding breakfast? Does It make It a lot cheaper? Myself and partner have big families and I think wedding breakfast will cost a fortune because I couldn't leave anyone out. On the other hand I would kind of like to get married earlier so we have the whole day and night... so much to think about lol

Hi! We're getting married at 1pm and having our reception at a village hall afterwards. We're having a buffet for 100 people in the afternoon which is costing us about £700 and a hog roast in the evening which is costing £800 so that's £1500 in total for food. We're making home made wine and we have a mobile bar which cost us £200 and guests will buy their own drinks. So for less than £2000 all food and drink for 100 people is paid for. So that's less than £20 a head...far cheaper than the £40+ a head we were quoted for sit down meals!

Same as above. Ceremony at 2pm, then reception afterwards at a village hall. We have 100 adults and 10 children. Hog roast for 150 people is £750 and our family are doing a buffet for around £100, this will be served at 5:30 pm, throughout the evening. We're also having a cake buffet with family homemade cakes, candy floss and sweet table. Mobile bar is also costing us £200, that's including pimms x100 and soft drinks for the kids. Works out at less than £7 per head. We couldn't afford the whole sit down meal for our numbers and everyone is really looking forward to it xx

We are looking at getting married around 3pm and would have two buffets at the reception one not long after we get there for the daytime guests then another one later on in the evening for the daytime and night time guests.

That's the other thing were not doing. Day and evening guests. We figured it would end up costing us more money and people would all be eating the same food anyway xx

We had both wedding breakfast and evening buffet. I'd think if you only provide one meal it'll be cheaper but then it's a shorter day.

We've having a wedding breakfast and evening buffet but only because we are getting married at 12:30pm so can't not provide the breakfast :) If you are willing to get married a little later in the day then an evening buffet is fine :)

We're getting married at 4pm & having a huge buffet around 6pm, planning on having the buffet topped up regularly so that people can pick all night.
We have 120 guests (that are invited to the whole day, no extra evening guests) so a big sit down meal would have been far too expensive.

    Hiya

We are getting married at 4:15pm. Then we are having a sit down buffet (best way to describe it) for the 60 ceremony guests. Then some extra food is to be added to the buffet for all the evening guests.

Not only did I prefer this because it kept costs down, but also I wanted a later wedding so there wasn't lots of hanging about and people getting tired before the evening people had even arrived!!

Been with my gorgeous 5years :)

We get married at 5.30 so it's straight into the evening do with a buffet. We will have 34 guests to the ceremony and 80 guests to the reception. It's costing £1000 for the room, buffet for all guests, disco and room for the evening. To add the wedding breakfast would have cost an extra £1000.

We are getting married at 2pm with 120 guests for the whole day, we're trying to keep costs down so we are just having a buffet at 5pm. We're putting what time food will be out in the invitation so guests make sure they eat beforehand.
